I register all my menu's and commands with xml.  Looks like a version of this could be used in Maya with a little re factoring.  Tonight's research me thinks! +Cesar Saez

Using _doc_ strings for dynamic tool-tips in your UI?  I do this quite often these days.  I may write a PyQt GUI that I will populate based on model / view paradigms.  Often the data in my models are python objects such as method or class.  Sometimes I want that object to get it's tool-tip from the objects _doc_ string.  This has ugly formatting if you just leave it as is.  Enter textwrap

You can take this further by adding your own mark-up to your doc strings and filtering this out using regex.  Your model can use this in multiple ways as meta data if you don't want to use class properties for this data.

I Knew it.  At some point Maya's Character Sets would come and bite me in the bum.   If you use them with referenced character rigs then be very careful with them.  If you re-publish your rig and have locked a previously open attribute or removed / added an attribute from the character set.  You'd better check it works in the animation files.  I have code to save out a character set, load them and merge them.  This fixed the problem.  I'll tidy up the lib and stick it on GitHub....

Thinking of everyone across the road at this time.  It's not nice.  Been there and done it many times.  These things have a tendency to work out for the best in my experience.
