Five Years Ago Today -- Patagonia.

I woke up to more orange clouds at dawn. This time they covered Mount Fitzroy, but you could see the glacier. Before we left Hosteria El Pilar near El Chalten I took some pictures of the lupines in bloom. We then headed into Los Glaciares National Park. where I took a panorama image of Perito Moreno Glacier. As with the previous panorama images, these are best viewed in full screen mode.

Five Years Ago Today -- Patagonia.

Images from around Hosteria El Pilar near El Chalten in Argentina. When we saw the orange clouds developing at dusk over Mount Fitzroy we all left our deserts and rushed out of the dining room with cameras. Some said the cloud looked like a shrimp, a dragon, and a Praying Mantis. I may have wished I had a different camera at the time, but didn't chance missing the show.

The other images include a bee approaching a Pink Lupine flower, a horse and reflection of Mount Fitzroy at dawn, and then several early (02:00 to 03:00) night sky images. This was the first time I saw the Southern Milky Way, and an upside down Orion constellation.

Semester at Sea Spring 2016 Voyage: Day -1.

Sea Gull and the Semester at Sea MV World Odyssey. Gone to See the World 2016.  San Diego, California. Nikon 1 V3 camera and 10-30 mm VR lens (ISO 200, 24 mm, f/10, 1/125 sec). Image Processed with Capture One Pro, Focus Magic, and Photoshop CC.

This morning I went for a walk along the San Diego Harbor to see the MV World Odyssey. This is the new ship that Semester at Sea is using for its voyages, and will be my home for the next 3 1/2 months. Even though the ship is docked in San Diego, we have to take a bus ride to Ensenada, Mexico before we can board the ship. The Spring Semester Voyage starts tomorrow night. The first port will be Honolulu, Hawaii.

One Year Ago Today -- Patagonia.

Final Dawn, Beagle Channel on the way to Ushuaia from the Upper Deck of the MS Fram. I was one of the few to get up to see the dawn that morning (too many celebrating their final night on the voyage...),
