What an unbelievable evening for a photo walk.  Big thanks to +Trey Ratcliff for making this night happen (I'm semi-convinced you knew who to call to get that sky last night...) #TreyUSA

+Trey Ratcliff with his spiffy new Everyday Messenger bag from Peak Design, which just shot to the top of my wishlist! Loved that the photo walk speech was perfectly timed for the golden hour.  #TreyUSA

Honored to have +GoPro post my video as their Video of the Day!
Video of the Day!

Just a leisurely stroll....  Photographer David Lerman says, "Angel's Landing at Zion National Park is one of the scariest and narrowest hikes in the U.S. With dropoffs at every turn, some plummeting a few thousand feet straight down, this climb isn't for the faint of heart. But for those willing to face their fears, they're rewarded at the summit (5,790 ft high) with one of the most spectacular views on the planet.

Increasing degradation of stock photo market...
Top iStock contributor gets "Terminated" by Getty

http://seanlockephotography.com/2013/02/11/a-change-in-things/

Wow, what a strange turn of events. One of iStockphoto's top-selling photographers, +Sean Locke, was just given notice by Getty that his "relationship" with them will be terminated within the next month. Basically, they have banned him from the forums, are closing his account on iStockphoto and having him remove all of his images. I know Sean, and he's always been a great voice in the forums on iStock ... the guy who would say what most people were thinking, but were too afraid to actually post it. He's also a crazy good photographer, and just by seeing how many downloads he has so far it makes me wonder how much this is going to cost Getty in the long run.

There have been a lot of unfavorable changes over at iStock (Getty) in the past few years, and while I'm usually pretty quiet about these things I definitely haven't been unaffected. Artists have tried to voice their concerns, dropped their exclusivity, and some have even left altogether. I have no plans on leaving iStock or exclusivity in the near future, mostly because I rely too heavily on it for my income, but I do have to say that it's sad how much of the spirit of the site has faded and withered away. I'm just glad that I no longer rely on iStock for my photography community. :)

Best of luck to you, Sean. I look forward to hearing more about your new journeys in the "independent" world!
