I'm a little scared! :S
An anonymous reader sends a report of a bug in Steam's Linux client that will accidentally wipe all of a user's files if they move their Steam folder. According to the bug report: I launched steam. It did not launch, it offered to let me browse, and still could not find it when I pointed to the new ...

Yay! No need to use unofficial APIs anymore! :)

The update for Android Wear to 5.0 is now rolling out to watches, and we are pleased to announce that the official Android Wear Watch Face API is now available for developers. With support for custom watch faces, users have even more ways to personalize their watches, and developers have the ability to create all kinds of new experiences. For more information, including how watch faces work and how to deploy them, check out the blog post by +Wayne Piekarski at http://goo.gl/eJvubC and the video below by +Timothy Jordan

Can't wait for the recording! :)

Just under two weeks until Devoxx where Dagger 2 will be making two appearances!

+Christian Gruber and +Gregory Kick from Google will be giving a three-hour hands-on lab for using Dagger 2 in Android development. Being the two main developers behind Dagger 2, it's sure to be a good one.

Later in the week I will be giving a one-hour general presentation on Dagger 2 (not Android specific!). I'll briefly cover why you should use dependency injection, differences and motivations from Guice and Dagger 1, and then some concrete usage and best practices.

While the 3hr lab is not recorded, my 1hr presentation will be. If there is anything you would like covered please let me know and I'll try to accommodate!

Looking forward to Friday!

Boom! Android 5.0 Lollipop is now officially a thing. Very excited to see this SDK graduating from preview on Friday (just in time for my visit to the +Big Android BBQ).

The Nexus 6, 9, and Player are pretty sweet too.

(See what I did there? I blame +Chet Haase - what have you wrought of me?!)

The "Android tablet app" exists only in the minds of misguided developers and ignorant analysts.

Some food for thought:
Focusing on the idea of an "Android tablet app" is missing the point -- and misunderstanding how Android as a platform works.

I have posted my slides from my "Dependency Injection with Dagger 2" talk which I gave at Devoxx this past week.

The lack of me talking along and/or the lack of animation can make some of the content appear strange on its own. Hopefully the video recording will be available in about 5-6 weeks.

Enjoy!
Dagger is a fast dependency injector for both Java and Android. Its second major version not only brings new features for parity with other frameworks but continues to push the boundaries of speed. The concepts covered in this talk apply to both Java targeting the JVM and Android.
