I think they will succeed, it will take time, as did the music industry (and they are still learning) but they are (as you mentioned) the only global distributor and as has been said for quite some time, the writing is on the wall - people are getting the content through any means they can, so when the content creators wake up and realise they can actually make more money by licensing the stuff globally (rather than losing money to the pirates etc) then the status quo will change.....all takes time though.....
