Mike Masnick is way right: The question of sharing what has been shared in a circle beyond that circle is a nonissue.

Says Mike: "Um. That's not a privacy loophole. That's how everything on the internet works. It's how Facebook works. It's how email works. In fact, Google's setup here is even more conducive to privacy than pretty much everything else, because it actually gives you the ability to block that ability on each thing you share. I'm at a total loss to see how this is a "privacy issue." It's someone making up a privacy issue."

I'm still having a hard time seeing why this is an improvement over Facebook, not that Facebook deserves any affection, mind you. But what's the big deal, aside from the fact that this is Google?

Yep, Rafat, that's what I figured.

And Ben, good points. I do like that the idea of "following" someone I may not know, while with Facebook, I feel it's a bit more personal. But that's just a weird thing with me. Facebook does make grouping more of a bother than it should be. I'm sure that will change pretty quickly.

I'm willing to look dumb and just ask after a friend sent me a message on Facebook, because she wasn't sure how to message me on Google+! To send a private message to someone in a "circle," do you have to go outside Google+ and hit the gmail tab? Or is there something within Google+ to do that? (I know, it's sooooo hard to open up another tab. But I like the obviousness and seamlessness of Facebook messaging. Somehow I feel boxed in to defend Facebook here.)

I voted: Looks good, but not a Facebook killer.

Finally, the moment you've all been waiting for: A poll about Google+ right here on Google+! Yay.

Celeb-citing of the day, Jay-Z at Torrisi Italian Specialties on Mulberry St. I took out the phone to take a picture and the look in his eyes said, "Don't do that while I'm eating coffee cake."

Very interesting, I think I like it more than you do...ok I wrote you a message on FB because I couldn't find the messaging function here. Maybe there isn't one? or maybe it is called gmail?...hmmm

You know I love a cheesy/attention-grabbing headline, but it's all in the name of art. (It would make an awesome trilogy. Page two...etc.) Anyway, hope it was good, look forward to catching it here at some pt

This is the "old man bar" to end all "old men bars. The bartender is a very sweet woman, the people are a mix of barflies who have been coming here since 1974 (the place probably looked exactly the same back then) and people from across the neighborhood from Chinatown to the Latin side. There's sports on the TV and Freddy Fender on a Wurlitzer jukebox that is even more beautiful because someone kicked one of the speakers in. We'll see you there next time, hiding in a corner.

This is the atmosphere, and more importantly, the cocktails you expect and want. Even at a time when it's easy to be transported to the 1890s (or 1920s, pick your classic drinking era) this place goes a step further -- by simply being a great bar, with great drinks, great small plates and great service.
