On topics as varied as climate change, health care, terrorism and the president’s birthplace, GOP leaders and media figures have obfuscated and prevaricated with masterly panache, sowing confusion in the midst of absolute clarity, pretending controversy where there is none and finding, always, a ready audience of the fearful and easily gulled.

A blessing to be reminded today.
John O'Donohue's poetry wraps around us like a warm shawl. May these words nourish you.

Unable to open this in my hangouts app, and unable to respond through google plus where the questions show, but hoping you'll get this:
To anyone of today's guests: I was put off of writing Haiku about personal things years ago, by a teacher who insisted that one of the chief requirements of the form was that it be impersonal, and directly related to the natural world. Instead she said I would write senryu and other short forms if the material was not about nature. How would you address that teacher if you could?

I finally got a chance to actually edit my question. I simply cannot type properly on that dang tablet! :) Thanks, everyone.

A while back I did a video series of thirty poetry recordings in thirty days for National Poetry Month. Every now and then one of these videos still gets a comment or a like, and it reminds me of how fun they were to do (although it absorbed nearly all my free time that April). Here is one by Kenneth Koch that is based on the famous little non-apology poem by William Carlos Williams, "This Is Just To Say." Best to google that and read it first if you don't know it.
