Women who are pregnant or plan to become pregnant often are wary of eating fish due to its mercury levels. Now, the FDA and EPA have issued new guidelines to help make informed choices on eating this healthy food.
Although they do so with good intentions, pregnant women shouldn't avoid eating fish altogether, and these new guidelines should help.

I can't wait to see what today brings!
When the sun came up Friday, I did too. When I stepped onto my balcony and looked out, my first thought was that it’s going to be really, hard to leave when the time comes. I started doing vacation…

As a kid on family road trips, I always kept a travelogue. I truly believe it is what led to my journalism career. In fact, I have no doubt about that. So I'm doing that on this trip. This is an important trip. It's time to heal. I take that very seriously.
It has been a long, exhausting day. But in a good way. And before I lie down to say my prayers, I must say: “I’m in Miami, b*tch.” I’m not being vulgar. It’s a line from a song. What a space – a st…

Bragging rights
After living a decade in Los Angeles, I returned to my hometown of the Quad-Cities in 2002 to help care for my father, who had frontotemporal degeneration, behavioral-variant (BvFTD, or Pick's Disease). He died in September 2015. I chose sobriety Memorial Day 2013 after struggling many years with alcoholism and addiction. I worked 25 years as a reporter and editor at corporately owned newspapers in Southern California and the Midwest, and even served one year as an editor at The Advocate, the historic gay newsmagazine founded in 1967. I am grateful to be able to work from my home (my childhood home) which I purchased from dad's estate and recently remodeled inside and out.

i truly cried tears of joy shortly after QC General put a stunning red steel roof on my home. I recently purchased the home from the estate of my father, who purchased the home a second time just four years ago. He originally purchased the home in 1961 with my mother. In 1976, they essentially doubled the size of the home with a Bullock room addition. They also did extensive interior remodeling, including a kitchen remodel which at the time was top of the line with Brammer cabinets. My father lost the home in a divorce from my mother in 1984, who died in the home 11 years later. I was living in Los Angeles at the time and had no interest in purchasing the house; my brother already owned a home. So we sold it. When dad bought the house again four years ago, it for sure was a bit shocking, but he always wanted his house back. My father and I lived in the home one year together before he ended up in a memory care facility, was diagnosed with a rare brain disease called behavioral-variant frontotemporal dementia, or Pick's Disease, and then died in September. This is a very special home and the blessing of me now owning it is profound! I will be staying with QC General for additional improvements in coming weeks that should be pretty stunning. As for the Brammer cabinets, I kept them and simply replaced the "jewelry" (very dated from the 70s) with polished nickel tubes. QC General already has made other kitchen updates. QC General is replacing all of the windows in the home next week, adding shutters to the house and garage (red, an exact match to the roof) as well as new flooring, paint, and bathroom improvements. Andy and his staff are a pleasure to work with and I am very pleased. I highly recommend QC General to the remodel of your family castle.

Outstanding and delicious, every time. The young woman named Amy is outrageously courteous, knowledgeable and polite, but actually, all of the employees are wonderful. Thank you Col. Sanders for keepin' it real in Rock Vegas!
