Apple is really, truly working on a cheaper version of the iPhone, the WSJ reports -- just like it did, oh, two years ago. My +CNET story:

Hmm, didn't the "cheaper" version roll out as priced-reduced iPhone-4S that was "released" alongside the iPhone5? :-)
And carriers are giving the 4 away for free. Or is Apple trying to take up the Fed rate challenge and figure how you can drop below zero?
