Very confused about distance running biomechanics. I thought Kenyans were supposed to run on balls of feet after all those barefoot years as kids (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/06/magazine/running-christopher-mcdougall.html?pagewanted=4
), and I was the only one l left striking heel first. But elite runners in NYC marathon the other day pound their heels too.
A lousy set of pictures, but they show at least some of womens and mens nyc marathon leaders landing on their heels, not midfoot/forefoot. ~Mile 16.
