Simply Fashionable: Whenever Nicola has a concept, and calls upon me to shoot it, I am always ready to put this Caribbean model/stylist, who now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, in front of the camera. This is a sample of our weekend project.

Even as we celebrate our 239th anniversary of independence, we still manage to find every way (even in the air) to succumb to corporate greed and make sure the have nots will always not have. Way to go United, American, Delta, and the rest of the flying horse drawn carriage companies.
The experience of flying with American carriers pales in comparison with those of their Asian counterparts.

DxO Optics Pro 10 Suite Updated: If you use DxO Optics Pro and/or the rest of the professional suite (including DxO Viewpoint and DxO Film Pack), updates are available. Along with several bug fixes, raw support for the new Canon EOS 5DS and 5DS-R has been added. The suite now supports Photoshop CC 2015 as a plugin. Lightroom CC 2015 is also supported.
Automatically optimize your RAW photos while reducing noise and preserving detail, all based on your camera and lens.

Here's an excerpt from my commencement speech to the ITT Technical Institute's Class of 2015 at the Lesher Center in Walnut Creek, CA this evening:

"Advancements in technology bring us the prospect of longevity, improved health, faster travel, deeper space exploration, and so much more. But we must be careful never to see technology as a panacea for all that ails our society. Even the best technology, created and deployed in a moral or ethical vacuum, unrestrained by fundamental regard for human life, has the potential to do as much harm as it does good" - DF

Capture One Pro 8.3.1 Available for Download: If you use Capture One Pro, you may want to grab this point release. In addition to adding new camera and lens profiles (for raw conversion, tethering, and lens correction), there are a number of bug fixes for the Windows and Mac versions.

"Selfie Sticks & Neat Tech Tricks: Where is Technology Taking Us?"

Over the years I have spoken at a number of commencement programs. This is the first time I have been invited to speak at a technology-focused private (for profit) institution.

So, as I finalize my speech in preparation for ITT Tech's bachelors and associate degree programs commencement in the Bay Area, I'm building it around the topic, "Selfie Sticks & Neat Tech Tricks: Where is Technology Taking Us?"

Now, let's see if I can manage to keep the attention of an auditorium full of new graduates and their friends and families.

Has anyone purchased this new megapixel DSLR king or the "R" variant? If not, are you planning to purchase one in the near future? I must admit I am surprised that most outlets seem to have them in stock. I suspect it has to do with how Canon manages inventory and the retail channel.

There's no doubt the Canon has more pixels and recovering detail in the dark areas may produce an amazing image.

Planning on buying one of Canon's hot new 5Ds/5DsR? Any old lens won't do. Canon has published a list of lenses that are capable of resolving the high megapixel images these cameras produce.
Canon has officially launched its recommended lenses list for use with the high resolution EOS 5Ds and 5Ds R DSLR cameras. The Canon EOS 5Ds and 5DS R capture ultra-high resolution images suitable for large-scale printing and extensive, creative cropping. The Dual DIGIC 6 Image Processors provide the where withal to handle this abundance of information, enablingContinue Reading
