Great article from Fstoppers. Especially useful for those of us who fly all the time with our gear.
Many of you know about my headshot work, but one of the other major areas of my business is photography for hotels, also known as hospitality photography. Hospitality photography often requires a jack-of-all-trades. I frequently shoot food, cocktails, headshots, mock weddings, and work with models for lifestyle shots. Then add to all that the architectural elements and details of the interior and exterior of the property and you have a shoot that...

Here's a capture that's definitely a departure from what I normally shoot. However, this young woman, whom I met in Port of Spain last year, and who attended a couple of my workshops, asked that I shoot with her. This is the concept she desired. There is a bit of intrigue about what she wanted to convey. And I certainly hope I captured that for her. Photo by David E. Fraser. © 2015 All Rights Reserved. www.photosophistry.com. Here's an interesting read ahead of the release of Canon's eagerly anticipated 5DS.
As the megapixel race between Canon and Nikon enters its next phase, it's time to ask just how much is too much.

Carnival Monday, the day before the full costumed parade of bands, is an equally exciting day. Here are a few dozen images from the Monday Parade of Bands in Port of Spain. As always, I thoroughly enjoyed shooting.
Welcome to PhotoSophistry's Carnival 2015 Parade of Bands collection. These images were captured in beautiful Port of Spain, Trinidad. Several carnival bands are represented here. Please check back regularly as additional photos will be posted over the coming days (after carnival).

Though the video is a bit dark, I do appreciate makeup artist Reya Gosein capturing these brief few minutes of our shoot this morning at Buccoo on the beautiful Eastern Caribbean island of Tobago.

I have begun posting some of the images captured during Carnival 2015. Now only one day behind us, there are many more images to process. I'll keep adding them regularly to the existing collection. Enjoy!

My Brief Take on Apple's New Photos App for Mac OS X: After spending an afternoon with Apple's new Photos app, I realized (again) that I truly appreciate Apple's efforts at simplification. It's their oversimplification that often troubles me. Photos, from the perspective of a professional or even serious enthusiast photographer, falls squarely in the realm of oversimplification and is woefully lacking in utility.

Photos creates a new library, much like iPhoto and Aperture did. One of the reasons I pointed out it has limited utility for enthusiasts and professionals, is that you cannot simply choose on a case by case basis if you want to add your images to the library or reference in a location. It's a global setting that you must fix in preferences. So unless you change your global preferences before each import, all your files will either import into the library or stay where they are. A very odd omission on Apple's part.

Always great to be back home in the San Francisco Bay Area. But I surely have great memories of shooting Carnival 2015 in Port of Spain. Here are a few samples from the Tuesday Parade of Bands (the main event). For an extended collection, visit my website at http://www.photosophistry.com/carnivaltuesday2015.

It's difficult to top the breathtaking view of Mount Irvine Bay on the Eastern Caribbean Island of Tobago... That is unless this lovely woman strolls across its sun kissed sands. She is Trinidadian model, Anita Ramroop. This is from our weekend shoot just ahead of my trip back to the US. Photo by David E. Fraser. © 2015 All Rights Reserved. www.photosophistry.com. I don't follow the rumor sites, but a colleague forwarded this to me. Take it with a grain of salt. But if true, it incorporates a number of the features for which Lightroom users have been asking.
