I am very excited about this. The access to information has become a human right. This is the key to unlocking the next era.

Dropping a note here to ask "Have you seen the new #Google #hashtag search?" The scroll on the right-hand side is AWESOME. Is this your doing already? :) Hope you're enjoying the new job.

Very excited to welcome +Shaherose Charania to the Board of Directors of +Hacker Dojo this morning! Shaherose has done so much for Silicon Valley as the founder and CEO of Women 2.0 and Founder Labs. Her keen insights, business sense, and strong network will help us build the Dojo into a Silicon Valley institution, inspiring generations to come.

"David Weekly represents a new generation of seed investor. He’s young, smart, hyper-connected, and has access to some of the very best deals in Silicon Valley.

But these days, there is only one place he’s putting his money. In drones."
The uncertain regulatory environment surrounding the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles isn’t hampering the application and innovation of drones.

Well, this is an interesting contest that's been going on for years. Someone submits a picture out their window and readers have to guess where in the world they are. :)
Locations are hidden in case you want to play any of the old contests. Click here to view the archive in gallery form. 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014

Today was a bittersweet day, softened with a big cone of chocolate ice cream. It was my last at Facebook.

I left a delightfully great job, working with a team that was like family, an incredibly supportive boss & management chain, doing great product work to improve the tools people at Facebook use every day to get their work done. It is a short commute, has great benefits and comp, and I was looking forward to the somewhat astonishing FOUR MONTHS of paternity leave that Facebook offers. I said goodbye to working alongside some of the smartest, nicest, and hardest working people on the planet and some of the most powerful and comprehensive datasets and code tools around. You'd have to be a moron to walk away from that. Working at Facebook has been great.

But...I've been given an opportunity that I couldn't say no to, one that would let me pursue my passion to provide better connectivity to the world, researching new technologies and business models to connect the planet. There's no rest for the wicked, or for those who want to get the species online, so I'm starting with Google as a Product Manager for Access Projects on Monday. Here goes. Let's do this.

(And super props to my ever patient and supportive wife who backs me enough to be willing to give up some of my paternity leave to further the mission of connecting the world.)

In the meanwhile, there's a DevHouse at my place tomorrow. ^_^ Come by!

Delicious iced mochas and Macau iced coffees, with cheerful - if at times ponderous - service. The prosciutto croissant is mouthwateringly good. :)

Who knew that the mid-Peninsula had such smashingly good haute cuisine? Excellent in 2009 and now mind-blowing in 2010, Viognier offers a classy (if pricey) place to take a date, with brilliantly executed courses, kind service, and a luxurious atmosphere -- even if you do have to climb above a grocery store to get there! Absolutely my favorite swanky spot on the Peninsula.
