Come to the No Enbridge Pipeline Ralley this coming Saturday, May 10th  at 2:00 PM on Sunset Beach. We need to show just how many people are against Harper and Big Oil's plan to shove this poison through us and into our coastal waters.
On May 10, step up to defend our climate and communities through creative actions and events across the country. Click here to find an event in your community.

This is exactly what the recently deceased Sid Ceasar used to do. He used to call it Doubletalk. He could do it in Italian, French, and German quite convincingly. It's a fascinating idea that one can extract the sound of languages from the meaning. I wonder if it there is a way to learn how to do this, or is it a talent, like the ability to hear and reproduce music.

This is so sad. And hilarious.

I get a text message from +Matt Kloskowski and it's this picture he took in the Atlanta airport and he wrote "EAU"

I'm looking at it and I'm wondering, "EAU?" European Association of Urology? Nah. Maybe Emiratos Árabes Unidos? Probably not.

Then another text comes in. It reads, "Empty As Usual." I almost spit out my coffee. ;-)

Looks like vizualize.me is up and running. It's complaining that my current version of Safari is incompatible, though. Looks fine to me...

Thank you +David Drucker  I had not yet heard about this little gem: it gathered my Linkedin profile seamlessly and constructed a pretty neat infographic on the fly. Fun. I'd love to take a 12 foot scroll of paper to my next meeting, and unravel it to show my experience as a giant infographic. Would sure be memorable. (Note to self: do it just for the looks...)[technically, any output bureau plus a fun PDF]
Calling on designers: what a cool business card that would be.

Tubin is one of the greatest 'unknown' composers of the 20th century, and this is perhaps his most approachable and uplifting works. It ought to be regularly performed in the concert repertory, as it can easily stand next to works of Vaughn Williams, Nielsen, Sibelius, Rachmaninov and other 20th century symphonists. The final bars of this work, if played well, should bring any audience to their feet, and I believe the slow movement will bring a tear or two.

This guy is India's version of the crazy Politicians we see who believe all manner of crazy notions (like the Internet being a series of tubes, or that you can become mentally retarded from a vaccine shot). He really thinks that Cloud computing involves real clouds. His certitude and vehemence are both hysterical and terrifying.

Wrong pieces played in concert halls, says Proms new young star ...

Was there as a grad student in the mid-80's. It has grown, both in size and stature since then. For me, I loved the modern, human-scale architecture of the college buildings, and having the dining hall and other college functions the centre of activity made it a comfortable and surprisingly warm place to live during the school year. Add a continually changing collection of visiting fellows and grad students, easy access to many of the university resources (the University Library and several faculty buildings on Grange Road, for example), and you have an ideal school for a foreign grad student. I remember my time there fondly, and wish I could return again and again to such a cozy yet intellectually stimulating place.

Nice modern place, with a fresh, bright interior. The chairs upstairs are perfect for meeting.
