The great city at night from space
Earth from Space: City of Dubai at Night

In this image taken from aboard the International Space Station (ISS) using a Nikon D3s digital camera and a focal length of 400mm you can see the City of Dubai at night. The bright lights left to the center of the image belong to the the Burj Khalifa Tower, the tallest building in the world, standing 829.8 m (2,722 ft). In the right bottom corner you can see the lights of the artificial Palm Jumeirah archipelago.

The image was taken February 22nd, 2012 at 19:24 GMT, the ISS was at an altitude of 383 kilometers (238 miles).
