+Terry Simmonds Well, unfortunately there are still a few markup "gimmicks" that work but they probably won't work for long and may get a site penalized. So I always advise people to stay away from the gray areas so that you won't have to worry about penalties or the need to completely revise your markups in the future.

Using the Meta Referrer Tag with HTTPS

If your website uses HTTPS, then you might also want to begin using the meta referrer tag.  This one is honestly new to me.

The movement to make the Internet more secure through HTTPS brings several useful advancements for webmasters. Sadly, HTTPS also has its downsides, including the loss of referral information. Enter the meta referrer tag.

JSON-LD's Big Day at Google

It's been a busy week for Google and structured data.  +Aaron Bradley explains JSON-LD's role in all of this.  And if you're not really familiar with JSON-LD, now would be a great time to begin learning how to use it.  #schema #structureddata
On 15 January 2015 Google extended support for JSON-LD as a means of providing structured data to the search engine.

Use Schema.org Markup to Specify Your Social Media Profiles

A new article on the Google Developers blog shares tips on how you can use schema.org markup on your website to specify your social media profile information and possibly have it appear in the Knowledge Graph panel.  I actually touched on some of that in my article on the +Whitespark blog yesterday.  Glad to see Google pushing the suggestion.   #knowledgegraph   #schema

Why Does Google Show a 4.8 Rating When I Have All 5-Star Reviews?

It's a commonly-asked (and very logical) question, so +Mike Blumenthal explains why.

Little Tokyo is one of those places that has great food and gives you a huge plate of it. My favorite is the Yaki Ramen, and for the amount of food that you get, you can't beat the price. I give them a 4, though, because I've been to their other locations and the food is not always consistent. But as far as this location goes, the food has always been good.

When you talk about poboys, everybody of course has their favorite places to go in New Orleans. But for a roast beef poboy, Short Stop makes one of the best I've ever had, and they're much cheaper than some of the more popular places. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.
