So his plan is to threaten Mexico into paying for a wall which provides practically no value to Mexico and does little to nothing to stop illegal immigrants... How is that not extortion?

Donald Trump announced Tuesday he would use a federal anti-terrorism surveillance law as a tool to force Mexico to pay for the border wall he has pledged to build on the U.S.'s southern border.

It's not often I applaud politicians for bowing to corporate pressure...but way to go Gov....
Facing threats of a massive economic boycott, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal announced Monday he will veto a controversial religious liberty bill that critics describe as anti-gay and supporters describe as necessary to protect their religious rights.

+David Coulter The last statement of article is fair enough; I agree to religious freedom not having the right to 'harmful' discrimination. (meaning violence or hate speech).  However, obviously religions have to honor whoever they call their God before they do people. I don't think it's discrimination for instance if a gay person applies for a job in a religious organisation, or an organisation run by such; respectfully declines because their God calls homosexuality an abomination. On the other hand I don't believe all religions should be free.

Every time a new President is about to be elected, there are these hyperbolic reactions like: "I'm moving to Canada". So I'm not particularly moved when I see similar comments about Trump.

What I am curious about, however, is how many times a potential candidate has been ranked by a competent international organization, as a major global economic threat.

The article concludes by pointing out a concern I've recently had myself. Namely that Trump (should he win) may find both Democrats and Republicans in Congress uniting against him. That could actually work out ok, if 2/3 of the Congress is against him. But if not - it could be gridlock for quite a while. Either way, Trumps's ego might be in for an awakening.
Donald Trump winning the US presidency is considered one of the top 10 risks facing the world, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit.

Yeah immigrating isn't as easy as most people think. But it's usually an empty threat, anyway...which is why I largely ignore it.

+Ken Johnson You're right-- you'd said you'd act as the police until they showed up. (Which is what I meant, but I worded it poorly.)

Actually-- "act as the police" gives your goal a bit too much credit. You wouldn't try to arrest anyone, right? You'd just become a killing machine until the goodguys showed up?

Well at least she was safe from any would be assailant.

A 26-year-old woman driving down a Milwaukee highway was shot and killed by a child in the backseat who got his or her hands on a gun.

Meh...I'm more curious why you knowingly put your family at greater risk of being injured or killed. Doesn't seem like the wise choice...if you actually care about their well being.

Sadly I think events like this will only help validate the beliefs of Trump supporters. Not in the sense that "they are proving him right", but rather... That their anger is validation that Trump is doing what America needs.

I'm amused by this notion I've seen recently that "Donald Trump can't be bought". But here's the thing. If you agree with this then you're already implying that you do believe the Presidency can be bought... But by who? Who's buying the presidency? Well it sure isn't the middle class. So if it's anyone, it's multi-billion dollar companies... You know...the kind Donald Trumps owns.

In other words, all you're really saying is... Let's stop making the multi-billion dollar companies buy off the presidency, and just let them have it already. If you think multi-billion dollar corporations have been buying the presidency, then surely you need to recognize that those CEO's (if elected to president) aren't suddenly going to have a change of heart and start representing your needs instead.

+Nicole Spivey Sure, but all that means is he can't be bought off to support their special interests and businesses. IT's unlikely he would suddenly forget that he owns his own major corporations. And since very few laws are written exclusively for specific corporations...helping one helps them all.

In short - corporations won't need to buy him off, because he'll already be helping them by helping himself.
