I like that in the announcement of Janet Robinson stepping down as CEO of the NYT that the search for her replacement will look both internally and externally. If they are smart - they will find an external person who comes from a technology background (or an internal person like +Aron Pilhofer).

If technology companies are becoming media companies
then media companies must become technology companies.
