Over the last few months I have been weighing up the virtues of shooting 100% RAW on my Fujifilm setup (Fujfilm X-T2 & Fujifilm X-Pro2). The catalyst for such a debate is born from the remarkable quality of the Fujifilm JPG files straight from the camera; combine this quality with the various film simulation modes, wifi transfer and Lightroom Mobile and you have a pretty reliable mobile workflow. I only shoot raw when I have time to process and it's necessary, for example astrophotography, otherwise I tend to lean jpeg. I use to shoot both all the time and then I never processed the raw... I'm not a professional photographer however so there's that..

A visit along Belfast Lough and it was only right to grab a single 30 second shot of this little Jetty. The worst conditions for long exposure photography (the midday sun) yet the +LEE Filters Big Stopper still managed to soften the sea. http://buff.ly/1PAY7Qt

Today we’re making the Nik Collection available to everyone, for free.

Photo enthusiasts all over the world use the Nik Collection to get the best out of their images every day. As we continue to focus our long-term investments in building incredible photo editing tools for mobile, including Google Photos and Snapseed, we’ve decided to make the Nik Collection desktop suite available for free, so that now anyone can use it.

The Nik Collection is comprised of seven desktop plug-ins that provide a powerful range of photo editing capabilities -- from filter applications that improve color correction, to retouching and creative effects, to image sharpening that brings out all the hidden details, to the ability to make adjustments to the color and tonality of images.

Starting March 24, 2016, the latest Nik Collection will be freely available to download: Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro and Dfine. If you purchased the Nik Collection in 2016, you will receive a full refund, which we’ll automatically issue back to you in the coming days.

We’re excited to bring the powerful photo editing tools once only used by professionals to even more people now.

The last in a series of Binnian Presets. This Lightroom preset aims to add drama to winter landscape images by enhancing the detail to the shadow and muting the colour and highlights.

A great trip out into the Mournes with the X-Pro2, there was a short window when the clouds lifted high enough to see and to capture a few images. http://www.flixelpix.com
