David began to develop a deep appreciation for music at an early age. Born and raised in Ludington, MI, his earliest musical memories involve listening to the popular music of his parents, as well as singing at Ludington Area Catholic School. He began his study of music with classical piano lessons, and forayed briefly into guitar, upright bass, and trombone before eventually settling on percussion in elementary school. He continued his studies throughout high school, attending summer workshops at Berklee College of Music and The University of North Texas.
David graduated from Ludington High School in 2007 and moved to Denton, Texas, enrolling as a music major in the division of Jazz Studies at UNT, where he studied under Ed Soph, and was a four-year recipient of the board of regents scholarship. During his fourth semester, David decided to change academic outlets, pursuing instead a Bachelor of Arts with a focus in ethnomusicology, english literature, and business. He continued performing with jazz forum groups, as well as the UNT men's chorus, before graduating in 2010.
While playing professionally in the Dallas/Ft.Worth metroplex, David has recorded with producers Jeff Jacobs (former member of Foreigner and Billy Joel), Andrew Tinker (former member The Polyphonic Spree), in addition to performing with Nick Knirk, Junior Clark, The Jam Wows, Flesh 4 Fantasy 80s, Texas Country artists Todd Mankin, Derek Larson, and Paul Nunn, Siren Sea, various DFW metroplex churches, and a independent movie soundtrack. In Michigan, David has also performed with Edgar Struble (music director for Kenny Rogers), Pete Peterkin (America’s Got Talent), Terry Lower, and Monty Aidem.
David returned to Michigan in 2012 to focus more closely on the process of writing and recording a solo singer-songwriter project, as well as to plan his next move.
