What are some good "iOS for Cocoa developers" resources? So far my searches have only turned up the reverse.

Today is my last day at Google. One of the things I've gained by working here is that, having had this view from the inside, I'm a lot less cynical than I might otherwise have been about what Google is doing with its products.
Google is full of people trying to do cool things with technology. Occasionally they make mistakes because they're human, but they're not trying to take over the world or sell your soul to advertisers. It always annoys me when people make cynical assumptions to the contrary, and it will continue to even after I've left.

I think it was Gordon B. Hinckley who said that, after traveling all around the world and meeting all kinds of people, he was convinced that people are all basically good. So that applies to employees of large technology companies too.

And yes, I'm even willing to give Facebook that benefit of the doubt.

It's all too easy to let religious freedom die quietly amid the noise being made over so many other issues. Resisting that death will require a lot of conscious effort, consideration, and learning. I'm still learning how to express my views articulately and respectfully in the face of growing anti-religious sentiment. I'm glad so many others are making that effort too.

Its a sore subject for me well, except the other direction. Since I was raised in the church, I fully understand and for most of my life firmly lived on your side of the fence. Even after my choice to leave the church, I held to what I had been taught before. It's only been relatively recently that I've come to understand how much I had been misguided.

If you're willing, I'd be happy to discuss the issue.

B.Y.U.’s animation program is not your typical film school. And that’s why its graduates actually get jobs.

(Apologies if you see this more than once; G+ only lets me post to one community at a time)

A bit of shameless promotion here. I'm working on a Git GUI app for OS X, and I'm hoping to find people interested in joining in the development.

https://github.com/Uncommon/Xit

The project is in that awkward chicken-and-egg phase where progress is slow because it's just me working on it, and it's hard to garner interest because there's not much to show off yet. So I'm advertising :)

It's essentially a rewrite of GitX, and I'm working towards a 1.0 milestone where all the core functionality will be in place, after which it will be time to add cool stuff like GitHub integration and explore more ways to visualize the repository. Naturally I'm eager to get to that second phase!

So please check it out, fork it, leave comments in the Issues, etc.

Thanks Gordon. It's certainly ambitious given the competition, but I think there are plenty of possibilities to explore.

Oh, and once you see the icon I think the pronunciation will be obvious :)

Every little bit helps.
iOS 7 has many snazzy effects and cool new animations, but it’s not for everyone: Some users have reported feeling dizzy from the operating system’s motion effects, while others (my father included) are having issues reading the system’s default text. But you don’t have to deal with feeling ill every time you look at your iPhone—there’s another way. Here’s how to de-animate and re-boldify iOS 7. Reduce motion in iOS 7 If the dynamic wallpaper m...

I particularly like the bold option. The default thin text is a little too extreme for me. I wish I could disable or adjust some of the new animations and fades. They just make the UI feel slow in places.
