Introduction
I'm a fan of most anything doing with technology.  Home Theater, Mobile, Software Development, science fiction, gaming (both console and board games).  In the past I've run MUDs (multi-user dungeions for you old school folks, for you youngsters, they were the original MMOs.)

I have interests in landscaping, particularly around watergardens.  Oh and Beer, I like beer as well, especially craft beers.  One of these days I'll actually try brewing my own, but haven't done so yet.

If you follow me, be prepared for lots of tech talk, and griping about the Blue Jackets, and Columbus Crew.   Was a former US Soccer referee for 10 years as well.   I don't follow back everybody that follows me, so expect me to check your content, if I find it interesting and you have posts, then I'll follow you back.

I still need to get the core set to the tablet sometime but this expansion looks freaking awesome.

Moral of the story.  Don't destroy your cell phone it makes you look guilty even if you did nothing wrong.   Now a court order could get the cellular carrier to release the text messages, but that is going to have to be handled in court if Brady decides to appeal this to the courts.
Despite discussions of a potential settlement, the league does not curb its punishment.

So what does one do when they are bored and need some sort of creative outlet? Why build yourself a portable hardwood tabletop to play XWing Miniatures upon.

Price when completed about the same you would pay for a Scum and Villiany expansion pack.

Materials:

1 4 x 4 sanded plywood cut to 3x3 from Homedepot. - 18.95
2 1 x 2 x 8 feet of board. Cut to into 2, 2ft 10 inch strips. - 1.10 a piece.
1 Liquid Nails tube - $2.34
1 Black Enamel spray paint (99 cents)
1 Black Laquer Rustoleom ($2.00)

Time about 3 hours.

I ended up making two of them because I know the Raider will be out soon and that will get me to start playing some epic. So my final price was bout $60 for the two.

Assembly is pretty straight forward, attach the 1x2 to the unsanded side of the board applying a liberal amount of liquid nails. Let the glue setup for about an hour, sand down any rough edges from the cuttings.

Next step, make sure you are outside or in an open garage. Spray a coat of the black enamel, let it dry (make sure to get the sides as well), spray a second coat, let it dry to the touch. Spray the black laquer let that dry.

If you are planning to put this on a dining room table you may want adde some cork padding to the bottom or make sure your existing table has a table cloth to prevent damage.

These are hefty enough to not move around easily, but still lite enough to be portable. Put two of them side by side, and you have enough space for Epic battles for either X-Wing or Armada.

After playing a game or two on the boards.  I've decided to apply a couple of coats polyurethane.   This should help prevent some nicks and dings to the tabletop from movement of the ships and rolling of the dice.

It is going to be a lot of hp to chew through, and they will have ordinance.  So yeah it could be bad for the Decimators.

I like the tweak to the activation order.  Gives the person with less deployment cards some additional options and to see what the other side is going to do.

Not sure how I feel about Z-Man and Plaid Hat Games under the same corporate roof.  I was hoping that Plaid Hat could keep going it by themselves.

+Daniel Taylor Yeah, that is worrisome, though to their credit it seems to be improving.  I have to admit, I'm still salty about the whole Palaces of Carrara debacle, even though there is nothing I can do about it. I'm going to try and remain cautiously optimistic though.

Got tired of having difficulty seeing the numbers on the various range rulers I bought from Team Covenant last year. A little splash of white acrylic primer, makes things much easier on these old eyes.

If I was smart I would have done this last year when I got the templates, and before I removed the covering off the templates. Would have made painting that logo much easier.

Looks like they are trying to balance the mechanics of skirmish mode out a bit.  Which is good.  Rebels were typically at a dis-advantange.  Now they can choose to activate or not if the other player still has more deployment cards that haven't been activated than them.

It's a local bar, and despite what the site says, it isn't permanently closed. If you are looking for a high class place then this isn't it, but if you want a good atmosphere, and good people, then it is a good place to just hang out and veg.
