Dear Farnborough members,

Please check out the 'Rushmoor Local Guides' communities page. I started this a few months back and the objective was to promote this part of the world and get Rushmoor noticed, review good restaurants, hotels, shops etc so that others can also benefit from trying them out and discuss issues which affect us and our community in a friendly, non-threatening way. But more than anything, have fun.

I would request members to please try and contribute to this page, in whatever little way possible (be it with pictures, trivia, interesting facts, information about offers other can benefit from, hobbies, interests etc), so that we can build on this page and make it truly stand out, for people to recognise the world over. Let's use the power of Google. Thank you and be safe.

31-Day Squat Challenge

A squat is an excellent exercise, and a very natural one. So how about a challenge?! 31 days of building up to performing 200 squats. The increase is gradual with rest days thrown in to provide essential repair and recovery for your muscles. You can either perform the squats as one set or split them up, i.e., Day 3, 60 Squats, can be 4 sets of 15 repetitions with 30 seconds rest between each set.

Action points for a safe squat are:
* Feet shoulder-width apart
* Engage core (tighten tummy muscles)
* Squat down keeping back parallel with lower leg (in other words, keep your chest up and lower with your knees rather than your back)
* Keep heels down and ensuring knees don't go beyond toes
* Return to an upright position and repeat

If you suffer with any medical issues (i.e., high blood pressure, joint pain, prone to dizziness) that you feel might be aggravated by this challenge, please consult with your doctor before proceeding.

If you're unfamiliar with performing squats, have a comfortable chair behind you so you're ready to use it if you feel it necessary.

Have fun and good luck!
