The Internet equivalent of shouting "fire!" In a crowded theater. Should he be prosecuted?

Must be good with all those fine folks involved.

And ... it's official.

+Nick Westergaard and I launched a new podcast: The Work Talk Show.

Nope, it's not about email marketing.
Nope, it's not about social media.
Nope, it's not about branding.
And NOPE, it's not even about marketing.

Instead, *it's about how work gets done."

As our Facebook page says, "The Work Talk Show is a weekly podcast featuring a talk show format along with crazy smart guests who operate outside the lines of what work has traditionally looked like. Join us for irreverent and insightful conversations on work habits, work-shifting, virtual teams, productivity, travel, tools, technology, work-life balance, and everything in between as we take a look at how work gets done today."

Check out the first show, with Mr. +Tom Webster - http://worktalkshow.com/tom-webster/

This is good stuff; much more than just opportunistic link bait, as I originally assumed.

The marketing wisdom of the viral Gangnam Style video. http://blogs.hbr.org/cs/2012/09/marketing_gangnam_style.html

No copyright so people would create parodies.

Yes, what my friend Phil Buckley is referring to is about a year ago I postulated that social is functioning much like a stock ticker. That means it is possible to watch the ticker, pull ideas down and convert them in real time (or near real time).

The advantage to this kind of "attack" is no organic SEO position is required to play. The disadvantage is it will take some time and some serious quants to figure out what threads lead to what kinds of conversion.

Thus the "hedge-fund like arbitrage" is between the ticker (the social web) and a team of "day traders" that are armed with the 4 Cs of Internet marketing: Content, Community, Campaigns and Conversions.

This "social day trading" team uses the NOC-like (network operations center) setup you alertly pulled off of G+. The NOC is the expression of the ticker. Where our hardware NOC shows things like temperature, load balance and humidity in our hardware center the social NOC will show Radian6 like ORM (Online Reputation Management) feeds based on keywords, gurus, sites, content and campaigns all tied to the near real time social web.

This kinds of fingers on the pulse brings many benefits including:

* Tune content creation toward higher conversion levels.
* Find new threads that generate new revenue.
* Mark competitors so valuable territory is not lost.
* Learn, in a very intimate and immediate way, the relationship between content and conversion.

and so on....

What is clear is the closer we are to real time the more impact our campaigns have. B2C retailers know this already since the calendar dictates much of what they do. Now we can see inside the reception of ideas so fast that ideas themselves are liquid and so capable of being modified and tuned in near real time with the right tools and brains of course (lol).

Appreciate your pickup and hope I answered our question. This is bleeding edge social marketing but all implied by Amazon's hedge fund-like approach to Internet marketing. Read David Meerman Scott for more on this idea of the social web as stock ticker.

Nice.

You know you live in a special time when a guy who played a starship captain on TV is chatting online with a guy who's commander of a spaceship in orbit.

Yeah.

Dad, husband, home cook, music nerd, tech geek. Senior Director of Content and Engagement for Salesforce.
Introduction
I'm a dad and husband, a home cook, a music nerd and tech geek and a marketing and social media professional.

I'm Senior Director of Content and Engagement for Salesforce. I lead four amazing teams driving our efforts to engage with, inform and learn from our customers and communities.

I love speaking to groups large and small about how enterprise companies are successfully integrating social media across the organization.

I started my career in 1989 as a reporter and photographer for The Chapel Hill News in Chapel Hill, N.C. Since then I've worked in marketing communications for a variety of companies and clients, mostly in technology.

I came to Radian6 (now Salesforce Marketing Cloud) from New Marketing Labs, where I served as Executive Director and oversaw client services, as well as the development of new product and service offerings for enterprise customers. Before NML I was Social Media Manager for SAS, the business analytics software company. I directed the company's global social media strategy, policy and training.

Before that, I worked for Yep Roc, a leading independent record label, where I directed web and social media marketing and launched the web store. I've been actively involved in social media since 1994 when I joined my first Internet forum, and began blogging in 2002 when I wrote the daily update for the Iceland Airwaves music festival.

My first job at SAS was in the Corporate Public Relations group, where I assisted journalists who wanted to learn more about SAS' work/life balance, award-winning employee benefits and sustainability activities. I also oversaw the Fortune 100 Best Companies award application process.

I was born in New Jersey, grew up in North Carolina and graduated from Guilford College in Greensboro with a degree in English. You can find all of my online presences at dbthomas.com.

Very positive experience across the board. Dr. Chow is very enthusiastic, friendly and informative. The 3D retinal scan is fascinating and did more to help me understand the health of my eye than any previous visit to an eye doctor. Eric was also very helpful in selecting frames and working with my insurance.

If you like authentic Mexican food, like the kind people actually eat in Mexico, this is a great place. They have a full menu with lunch specials (the ubiquitous Speedy Gonzales, for instance) and all the usual stuff like burritos, enchiladas and hard shell tacos, but they also have tortas, Mexican-style tacos on fresh corn tortillas with a variety of fillings, pupusas and more. A little light on atmosphere but great food at a great value.
