Introduction
Dave founded Fig Leaf Software with Steve Drucker in 1992, and shares Steve’s vision of Fig Leaf Software as a world-class development and training company. As Chief Technology Officer, Dave Watts drives the technology vision and enhances Fig Leaf's competitive edge by developing the company's best practices, covering server configuration, performance tuning, application development, and application deployment. Dave also manages the Google Enterprise practice of Fig Leaf Software.

Dave is a Google Enterprise trainer, and provides training on behalf of Google for Google Search Appliance and Google Apps. He works with Google customers on GSA, GSS and Apps deployments as an architect and engineer. Dave is a Certified Google Apps Deployment Specialist.

Recognized as an expert in the ColdFusion community, Dave has been developing browser-based applications with ColdFusion since version 1.5. He coauthored the best-selling ColdFusion book, The ColdFusion Web Application Construction Kit, first and second editions with Steve Drucker and Ben Forta. Along with Steve Drucker, Dave co-founded the first ColdFusion Users’ Group in Washington, DC. He has been the most prolific poster on the CF-Talk mailing list for several years, having answered several thousand questions on ColdFusion and related topics. He regularly speaks at industry events, such as Adobe MAX, and writes articles for various trade publications. As one of the first Macromedia-certified instructors, Dave combines exceptional teaching with course development. He received a perfect score on his ColdFusion MX Certification, and regularly pursues new certifications in other areas of interest.

When not developing or teaching for Fig Leaf Software, Dave enjoys playing with new gadgets and technologies. In addition, he serves as an expert witness on IT and internet issues in civil court systems in several states.

I'm honored to announce that I'll be speaking at this year's Diocesan Information Systems Conference, on Google Apps for Work. I'll be discussing Apps functionality, and technical details of transitioning to Apps.

One of our Apps customers, the Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls, SD, will present their experience transitioning to Apps.

The conference is in Alexandria, Louisiana, on 17-19 June.

This is a neat twist to Google Apps - but not exactly a new one. Many years ago, Google provided Google Apps Team Edition, for people who wanted to use Apps functionality without changing their email. This was later deprecated, but now it's back! I think this is a great thing for individual teams to consider using within larger organizations, as long as it doesn't violate the policies of those organizations.

No need for Domain Verification to sign up for Google Apps when you sign up your team.

One of the great things about the Pebble watch is its battery life. It can last a week or more without a charge! That's great!

A few days ago, an update started installing, and got screwed up without a way to cancel or roll back. Suggested fix: wait for the battery to run out. That's ... not great.

A watch you have to charge every day, I'm not so sure I want to bother with that. I have a Moto 360 coming in the mail (for free, thanks Google!) but I'm not sure I'll actually use it.

I'm very impressed by the battery life on the Nexus 6, though! It seems to be able to go a couple of days without a charge, much better than the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 I just replaced.

Yesterday, after class, I taught another class. Today, during class, I spent my lunch break teaching another class.

And people say I have no class.

I just received an email from a student needing help to complere an exercise. Within five minutes, I connected to a VPN and used an RDP client to connect to the admin session of a Windows VM and log out two other disconnected users, then checked access to a GSA ... from my Android phone while in bed.

We live in wondrous times.

I really liked this article about dealing with one's effects - physical and virtual - after death.

That's very useful, but not nearly as funny.
