Yeah, same sex marriage will destroy America, #gop  ?  No, sorry, it's crap like this that will undermine the union.  You are the enemies of the USA.
On Tuesday night, the Alabama Supreme Court ruled, 7-1, to bar state probate judges from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. The order is a direct violation of several orders by U.S. District Judge Callie Granade, allowed to take effect by the U.S. Supreme Court. The justices also issued a lengthy defense of defining marriage as between one man and one woman. Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore sat out the vote, but the six-justice majorit...

I was expecting this to be a cheesy "Yeah, cute signs, bro!" article, but it's remarkably in depth, talking about Deaf culture, how ASL is both fascinating and challenging, and how it varies depending on the social group.  Check it out...
How do you sign "new" words? The Deaf community works as a network, collectively brainstorming new sign language terms over the web, until dominant signs emerge.

There may yet be hope.
Neil Blomkamp already has Sigourney Weaver on board to play Ripley and his upcoming 'Alien' sequel will completely ignore the events of 'Alien 3' and 'Alien Resurrection'…

Really nice day skiing at Bretton Woods with +Zach B-S.  The weather was awesome until early afternoon when it got cloudy and windy.  I've never skiied here before - liking it a lot so far.  Staying at the AMC Highland Center is making it a lot more affordable.

Back at the Highland Lodge in New Hampshire, but this time with +Mariama Congo and +Zach B-S. Was amused watching the thermometer on the Jeep get a workout. Hard to see but this says -12 degrees. Thats ambient folks, not wind chill.

Tomorrow is supposed to be much warmer but for tonight we're all tucked in nice and cozy.

A survey on #soylent  usage.  Interesting stuff.  I'm somewhere around 25%-50% usage, which puts me about where most folks are.  (Also, 84% of the people who use soylent are male.  Yep, hi.)
The first survey of its kind, to gather data on how and why people are consuming soylent/powdered food.

Google Gripe #4423
August 9th, 2013.  Latitude is retired.

As of this date, no alternative offering is available for desktop / maps usage.  The only way to get the same functionality is to turn on your Android device and run the Plus app there.

Google: Disabling useful services since 1998.

It reminds me a little of Trader Joe's: Try a lot of new things, retire the ones that don't work (for TJs), deal with the customers that fell in love with those things while you had them :-J :-|.

Some day... some day...
We all have dreams. Mine was to attend the Burning Man festival. This year, I simply packed my bag and traveled the world to attend this magnificent event. I came alone, but let me tell you something: I never felt lonely for a second. It was tough, as I needed to carry on myself everything to survive in the desert of Nevada for a week: clothes, food, water, tent, camera… I entered in the festival, in the middle of the night, exhausted and I s...

Wow.  Caught the last dregs of the RadioShack closing at Solomon Pond Mall.  Raided the small parts bins for mounting hardware, connectors, wiring details, etc.  Also pulled a lot of their 'robotics' parts and other fun things like EL wire and EL strips, an LED cube project kit, and a 'general' components box.  At 80% off, it was hard not to make big piles of stuff.  $60 later, i've basically restocked my parts bins and have some new toys to play with.

Posted this on the AMC Worcester group, but maybe folks here might have info...

I want to up my camping game this spring and summer, and I'm looking for guidance for places to camp. I live in the metro west region (think Marlborough), and want to be able to pull out my frame pack (tent and all), drive a reasonable distance, and hike in and camp. The more isolated / quiet the better. I'd like to sleep and relax relatively in a safe, quiet space.

My understanding is in this area, I'm primarily looking at 'state parks' and reserved camping spots. Is that the state of backpacking/tent camping in the area?

Lastly, if there's a decent mapping site I can use to select areas to go, that would be great. I've searched a little, but most of the 'find a camping spot' sites seem to have old / not updated data, or no data at all.
