It's good that Google can admit they are fuckups. It's a shame they have to do it time and again though.

Also can't help wonder of the final act if restoring sanity to Google use identity will be to kill off Google+ itself.

Having watched Wave grow fast and with much fanfare, only to disappear while deploying elsewhere what was learnt and developed in the process (cf Drive), I wouldn't be at all surprised.

I'm happy to play along with the idea that it's going to morph and stay with us -- I think it's the more likely scenario -- but it wouldn't surprise me if it did a Wave. Think of them vastly scaling back what G+ is, while keeping the sharing and curation aspects, and then look at Android and Android Wear and see how that'd fit. I think there's a similarity to the Wave into Drive process here.

Google would, in that situation, absolutely keep developing features even if a scale-back or closedown were very possible (that and it's not uncommon to keep whole teams busy until you can redeploy them onto the next big thing).

Another JC2 video where I get to join in, and this time we experimented with a "dadcam"! I think we might need to come up with a different method of recording my audio (that was done over Skype), but it works.

Well, it looks like it's not just me. I'm seeing others report that, suddenly, it's not possible to create a countdown timer using voice with +Android Wear.

That's kind of disappointing and frustrating if that's the case.
I didn’t pay too much attention to it when it happened but it looks likeAndroid Wear, on the phone side, got an update in the last 24 hours. Onlythis evening...

Had some fun and games when doing the latest update to my new iMac and iPod, further convincing me that Apple hardware and software is no more magical than anyone else's.

Looks like +Mike McLoughlin and I managed to stumble on a fix for the Android Wear vice timer setting issue.

So far the fix seems to be sticking for me.
Following on fromyesterday’s problem with the Android Wear timerI think I now have a solution. It came upwhile chatting with Mike McLoughlin about the issue.

"OK Google, set a timer, n minutes" has suddenly stopped working correctly on my Moto 360. Whereas before it would start a countdown timer, now it tries to create an alarm. I've checked the action on the phone and it's correct so I'm unsure what's going on.

I also note that the Wear app updated on the phone today. Could this be yet another Google unintended consequences type of change? I know this is one of my biggest frustrations with Google stuff: handy things that work really well being taken away without warning.

Software developer and geek. Sometimes plays at being a photographer.
Introduction

By day I'm a software developer and general geek.

By night (and weekends and bank holidays) I'm a software developer, photographer and general geek who, when he can be bothered to get out of his office chair, enjoys a bit of observational astronomy too (sadly mostly on hold for now).

Not that it defines me, but the opposite seems to define others, so I'll mention it before you follow me: I'm an atheist and will often talk about related subjects. If being reminded that your fairy tale is a fairy tale is something that offends you, you won't like my stream. Trust me.

Good food at a good price and a very comfortable atmosphere in which to watch a movie. Possibly the most comfortable seating I've ever found in a cinema (to my taste, at least).
