Development/Rooting/Roms  -

Okay, True or False question time!

I'm rooted with cwm recovery, so Knox is flipped, the warranty wasn't a concern.

1. Flashing 4.4 stock (i know I'll need to Re-root) means I won't be able to flash Roms again. True or False?

2. Flashing custom ROMs I can still do via recovery as usual. T or F?

3. It is possible to flash a stock ROM via recovery, without Odin. T or F?

4. Fill in the blank question: the n900w8 (Canada) model is the same as/also known as the _______ model.

Thanks all.

I don't think anyone out there actually sees this, but all of these little blog posts I'm writing should be viewed on my website despite the link linking to the "base", code-less blog.

Just a suggestion. 1) It can be tough, 2) takes time and as a bonus: 3), requires actual human interaction (i.e.; [currently  anyway], bot-proof) +Ingress +NIA Ops

I will donate 50 dollars to the charity of +NIA Ops ' choice if a rep informs me this has been read in its entirety.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The only reason I've never been this upset with a company like yours is because I've never put so much effort into enjoying one.

Take that as a compliment if you like, but in the last few months, Niantic has begun its disastrous dissolution.

I was impressed in December 2013 when reps came to visit us for ideas and thoughts on how to improve gameplay, layout and overall excitement and pace of the game. We felt acknowledged & listened to. We felt like our opinions mattered and felt we were  shaping this thing that, a first for a video game, we actually felt A PART of and not just fans.

Since then, Niantic grows quieter and quieter on a subject growing louder and louder.

The first step of fixing any problem is admitting there is one: You've developed a game that is incredibly exploitable and cheaters have taken advantage. You've acknowledged the use of IITC and little 3rd party add ons, however, when it comes to big issues of multiple, triple, quadruple accounts and most importantly, disposable accounts and spoofing, you've barely made a whisper acknowledging that your game is overrun. Hundreds of accounts are made, wreak havoc, and are disposed of on a daily basis. Whatever measures you've tried putting in place, if any, are useless and bypass-able by any 12 year old watching Youtube.

You know damn well that your legitimate players have invested hundreds of hours, planning and meeting, they've spent hundreds on fuel, they've communicated across borders and time zones, LITERALLY TRAVELED TO THE ENDS OF THE F**KING EARTH that have brought thousands of people together. They are the reason this game is successful: -because they DECIDED to take your idea and see how far they are willing to take it. You owe them every ounce of success this game has.

Legitimate players have made your game what it is.  You're Welcome.

Enter the cheaters. Who, in a few minutes, can drift, spoof and destroy months of planning, the distances traveled, and the efforts of thousands of committed players. Cheaters should be dealt with as absolute top priority. The fact that they aren't is frankly, insulting and incomprehensibly disrespectful. I'm shocked you're, I comfortably use the word: allowing, so many cheaters to walk on players who have worked their asses off for you. Whatever actions you may think you have implemented in the matter are clearly irrelevant, useless and deter virtually nothing, driven even further since the work/damage caused by spoofers dumbfoundingly remains valid in the game when, and if, they get banned..

Your verification system is nothing but a pretty "badge", your cheater submission process takes days or weeks and the cheaters are ahead of you every step of the way. And here we are getting updates about heat sinks and little game bonuses. The house is burning down and you're serving tea.

To hell with giving suggestions or "helpful little ideas":

PULL INGRESS OFFLINE.
In order to be properly repaired, a sinking ship needs to BE DOCKED. Your game is broken - you're either too blind to see it, too incapable of fixing it or too addicted to the free data your legit players are streaming you. To compound the issue, you refuse to address, be open or communicate with your players about this gigantic elephant in the room. Quite frankly, this letter should have been written with far more colorful language.

You need to revisit the days when you spoke to us as players, and builders, of your game and admit to your failing on the matter. Anything less is disrespect of the highest level. Your committed players have more than earned your deserved respect.

With unimaginable disappointment,

Legit Players Everywhere.

(I don't expect this to be shared, but if you're a legit player, I'd appreciate it.)

+Ingress Somewhere in Google, there must be some fantastic fraud detection analytics IP already being put to use for other, analogous, problems.  Barring that, there are research groups out there that would jump at the opportunity to work on such a data set.  I know, for example, that one of the A*STAR Institutes in Singapore have some highly effective fraud detection algorithms and I would not be surprised if they find this an interesting challenge.

I'm curious how many other people have found the charging connection to be EXTREMELY touchy.

Make no mistake, I love this phone, but when I'm charging it, I have to delicately place it on the table or shelf and make sure it won't even take as much as a nudge or else the connection will fail and the charging will stop.  My phone is about 5 weeks old and I would say I've experienced this for at least 3 or 4 or those.

So, I changed my website up a bit and I put a little Fitness blog on it. This is my first post and Google is telling me I can post on Google+ as well. So  I'm trying it.  Ah, technology...
