Predictions of a sparse Perseid meteor shower masked by bright moonlight were accurate, though I was able to capture a few good ones. This composite was created from ~6 hours of 20-second exposures.

The Milky Way stretches above Mauna Loa on the island of Hawaii. This photo was taken from the observatory access road on Mauna Kea. The bright orange spot in the center of the lower part of the photo is from steam illuminated by the glow of lava in the Halemaumau crater.

Gastown steam-powered clock in Vancouver, CA -- Actually it is a weight-driven mechanical clock, but steam power raises the weights to the top periodically, and steam power plays the pipes announcing the time every quarter hour.
