Hypnotherapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) for Anxiety in London
If you are experiencing uncomfortable feelings of excessive worry and concern without there being any apparent cause, then you are probably suffering from an Anxiety Disorder. Although feeling nervous is a normal emotion, such as that experienced before an exam or when making an important decision, extreme worry and anxiety may cause you to experiences unrealistic fears, which are inappropriate in relation to the given situation. An untreated anxiety disorder can interfere with normal life routines including work, social interactions and relationships.
The exact cause of anxiety disorder is unknown. However, there are multiple risk factors that predispose a person to develop an anxiety disorder. Some of these risk factors include genetic predisposition, neurotransmitter/brain chemical imbalances, and a history of emotional trauma such as loss of a loved one, sexual abuse and menopause. Anxiety can also be self-inflicted by an acquired habit of negative 'self talk' such as over-criticising ourselves.
Types of anxiety disorders:
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD): This is the most common type of anxiety disorder. The individual develops anxiety over unrealistic things and circumstances. Treatment through Hypnotherapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) for Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is now available in London.
Panic disorder: An individual suffering from panic disorder develops sudden attacks of anxiety and fear without apparent reason. The anxiety and fears are often associated with symptoms of excessive sweating, palpitations and feeling faint. Treatment through Hypnotherapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) for Panic Disorder is now available in London.
Obsessive-Compulsive disorder (OCD): An individual suffering from Obsessive-Compulsive disorder has uncontrollable urges to perform the same act repeatedly. For example, people suffering from OCD wash their hands again and again as they fear that their hands are contaminated with germs. Treatment through Hypnotherapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) for Obsessive-Compulsive disorder (OCD) is now available in London.
Post-traumatic Stress disorder (PTSD): This disorder develops in an individual after some stressful and traumatic event and he relives those moments through memories and nightmares. PTSD is very common in war survivors or accident victims. Treatment through Hypnotherapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) for Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is now available in London.
Social anxiety disorder: This form of anxiety is characterised by intense worry about being harshly judged by other people. As with other forms of anxiety, this is caused by genuine or imagined scrutiny. An individual suffering from social anxiety develops feelings of worry, self-consciousness and embarrassment when he is in a social gathering. Treatment through Hypnotherapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) for social anxiety disorder is now available in London.
Management of Anxiety disorders: Among the multiple options available to treat anxiety disorders, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Hypnotherapy are among the most effective. Research advocates the effectiveness of CBT and Hypnotherapy over standard medication in the treatment of anxiety disorder. CBT and Hypnotherapy can help an individual suffering from anxiety to unearth the causes of his fears and worries. The person can become more relaxed and can begin to visualise situations from a new perspective, creating space for positive thoughts, allowing anxiety to gradually fade away. Treatment through Hypnotherapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) for Management of Anxiety disorders is now available in London.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for combating anxiety disorders: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is among the most commonly used therapy for managing various types of anxiety disorders. CBT is based on one basic idea: our feelings are not generated by the events happening in our external environment, but by our own thoughts about these events. Different individuals react to similar situations in a different manner and these reactions are dependent on their way of thinking. The aim of CBT is to identify the negative thought patterns in individuals suffering from anxiety disorder; to challenge these thoughts and to replace them with realistic and positive thoughts and expectations. Treatment through CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) for anxiety disorders is now available in London.
Hypnotherapy for managing anxiety disorder: Hypnosis is derived from the ancient Greek word 'hypnos' meaning 'sleep'. During a session of Hypnotherapy a trance-like state or an altered state of consciousness is achieved by the Hypnotherapist. The Hypnotherapist helps an anxiety sufferer in exploring the painful memories and past events which may have resulted in his current problem. After deep relaxation the therapist will use either suggestion therapy or analytic therapy to help overcome anxiety disorder. Treatment through Hypnotherapy anxiety disorder is now available in London.
Suggestion therapy (Hypnotherapy): During the state of Hypnosis, an individual is more responsive to positive suggestions. These positive suggestions can help to increase self-control over unwanted emotions and to improve behaviour in previously difficult situations. Treatment through Hypnotherapy for anxiety disorder is now available in London.
Analytic therapy (Hypnotherapy): During a session of analytic therapy, the therapist and client explore together the cause of the client's fear and worry. These causes can often (but not always) be traced back to past emotional trauma or abuse. Hypnotherapy can assist in identifying negative thought patterns and gradually develop alternative and more helpful thoughts. In this way the therapist helps the client to reduce the negative effect of these past memories that led to the present day worries and fears. Treatment through Hypnotherapy for anxiety disorder is now available in London.
