The Male Pill

1. Have to wonder, if this came about, how it would change the argument over contraceptive coverage in the US.

2. Will also be interesting to see if there would be an uptick in STDs among males.
 
Sperm gene discovery may lead to male birth control, scientists say

+CBS News reports that a male birth control pill might not be so far-fetched, now that Scottish scientists have uncovered a key gene essential for sperm development.

The gene - called Katnal1 - is critical for sperm production because it enables sperm to mature in the testes. Thus, if scientists can somehow regulate this gene with a pill, sperm production will be stalled.

"I thought you said you were on the pill" will now go both ways.
Not sure how much I trust sperm production to restart after going off-line... it is a little different than telling the female system to ignore that "don't flush" order.
 
Well obviously a trans-urethral ultrasound would be necessary first.
