Balloons!
Every October, Albuquerque is invaded by hundreds of hot-air balloons for the International Balloon Fiesta. They launch into the sky at all hours of the day—some even take flight before sunrise—creating a sight unlike anything else on the planet. This short time-lapse, produced by Roadtrippers, is a vibrant introduction to the nine-day event.

Thanks to the Plex guys who finally got all the bugs out of the iOS app.

After almost a year of updating to the latest app, finding it too buggy and then going back to an old version (3.2.4) that worked on my iPad 2, I was finally able to update to the latest version (3.5.1) without disappointment.

On every previous update I was experiencing crashes and freezes. The crashes seemed to be caused by various actions, but the freezes (at 11 sec) were mostly caused by playing videos with high data rates or bitrates of over 2900kbps or 3000kbps respectively. Much to my surprise, the high data rates where not a problem for the old version (3.2.4).

Well obviously I recently tried updating the app again and much to my surprise, it works flawlessly. And it has many nice features the old one didn't. But I'm going to hold onto version 3.2.4 just in case.  :)

Thanks again to the Plex guys who have been working on it diligently and got the bugs out.

You can still get the original radio version of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy on iTunes, which is a hoot.

Before you buy your next hard drive, take a look at Blackblaze's blog on their experience. Bottom line: WD is much more reliable than Seagate and (surprise!) Hitachi is even better (if you can find them at a good price).
As you can see, they are mostly Seagate and Hitachi drives, with a good number of Western Digital thrown in. We don't have enough Toshiba or Samsung drives for good statistical results. Why do we have the drives we have? Basically, we buy the least expensive drives that will work.

Three-Eyed Fish Caught Near Argentinian Nuclear Power Plant
inhabitat.com

A three-eyed fish has been caught near a nuclear power plant in Argentina - just like Blinky, the three-eyed fish in The Simpsons.

Two of us had the “Bibim-Bop” and my other friends had the “Bull-Go-Gi” and the Spicy Chicken "Doe-She-Rock". All the dishes were very good. I can definitely recommend the “Bibim-Bop” which was served in a very hot, authentic looking stoneware bowl. The staff was very friendly and helpful, giving detailed explanations to our questions about the food and the restaurant. Unfortunately we didn't get to check out the karaoke; the karaoke room was rented by a special party that night. BTW for K-pop fans, they had a TV playing K-pop videos all evening, with SNSD heavy in the rotation. Frankly this was our first time at a Korean restaurant, but from everything I've learned about Korean food and culture, it lived up to my expectations. We all really enjoyed our experience at the Green Pepper. BTW we were there celebrating my birthday and they were kind enough to give us complimentary beverages in honor of the occasion. I had the Korean white grape juice, which had peeled white grapes floating in it; very good, and very classy. 감사합니다 to the staff and owners of the Green Pepper.
