If you love bacon, and wonder why the world's Jews and Muslims can't eat pork...then you'll love this NPR article: http://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2015/07/20/423865233/why-the-pig-is-the-most-loved-and-most-loathed-animal-on-the-plate
As long as pigs have existed, humans have weighed desire for their meat against disgust for how the animals lived and what they ate. Today we have fresh cause for worry about how pigs are living.

For a while, I was on fire to put together a new book from the archives of my blog.  One about Social Media. The first book from the annals of my 8 years of blogging is a success:  More Than Just A Voice: The REAL Secret to Voiceover Success. The pages of that book contain a relatively enduring message of voiceover information; suggestions that have a shelf-life that'll last as long as the current era of voice-acting permits.  Yes, things are con...

A quick recap.  Faff7:  One for the ages.
http://courvo.com/2014/09/faffcon-demystified.html
A few thoughts about Tucson's unconference, and then I'll move on.  I know the tsunami of pictures, posted alongside laments that: "...it ended too soon!"...or: "...FaffCon changed my life!" grows old for people who did not or could not attend.  Bear with me one more time. For the 100 souls in the Class of 2014 photo above, FaffCon7 will profoundly affect on their career.  A few bullet-points on my remembrances: The largest Faffcon donation EVAR...

Like this was any big surprise, eh? [I've only been pummeling everyone online with this eventuality for weeks!]  Well, you gotta draw the line somewhere, and this is the day we set for the release of my new VO Book:  More Than Just A Voice: The REAL Secret to Voiceover Succcess.  As you know, this is a book for the spectrum of voice-over experience.  Newbies will find advice and inspiration. Seasoned pros will find reminders, follow-up advice, a...

A conversation about the union often rises to the level of rancor usually reserved for Mac v. PC discussions. For today's WoVOChat, we're not going to go there...but it makes you wonder.  Why shouldn't SAG-AFTRA bring about universal support?  A union should in all aspects be FOR the actor, speak FOR the talent, benefit the career OF the member.  I'm sure the union CLAIMS to do that...so why is there such disagreement about the value of the union...

I believe SAG-AFTRA is not what it once was. I live in a right to work state and this is something to consider.

It's OK, you don't have to answer.  In fact there may not BE a right or wrong answer...it could be sort of a personal thing. Talent agencies pretty much were the T-1 line to VO jobs back in the day.  Now  -- depending on who you ask --- agents are STILL the path to the best-paying jobs for top clients in NYC and LA...or...no longer a necessary part of your successful VO career at all. Then there's the chicken-or-the-egg argument.   It goes like t...

Voice-Actor, Las Vegas TV News Anchor, Social Media Bon Vivant, Rennaissance man. Information, communications, and-on-camera specialist.
Introduction
*Anchor of Evening News at KLAS-TV (CBS) Las Vegas, NV

[I'm also a freelance Voice-Actor where I'm known by the name "CourVO".  (see http://courvo.com)]

People keep asking me when I sleep. Apparently I don't need much.

I love my job as a TV News Anchorman, and I keep busy in my off-hours voicing all sorts of projects in my private, ISDN-equipped home audio studio: audiobooks, E-Learning, websites, and Corporate Presentations.

I'm strongly identified and passionate about children's issues.  I'm on the board of BoysTown, NV; Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA); Big Brothers Big Sisters of NV, and the Adoption Exchange.  For 30 years I've been profiling children seeking adoptive homes.  This has brought me national media awards, but more importantly, it's helped children find permanent homes.

I'm a father of three gorjus daughters. One is a college grad, one is attending TCU as a scholarship soccer player, and the 3rd is a Sophomore at Chapman Univ in Orange, CA. My wife of 30 years is a Nurse, Stephen Minister, and stay-at-home mom.

I'm a prolific blogger:  Voice-Acting in Vegas, and as you can see from the list of links below, I'm also an itinerant Social Media gadfly.  I enjoy cutting edge trends, and dabble in most new things on the web.

I own one of a disappearing line of collectible cars: the Chevy SSR retro convertible roadster pickup. At 9 years old, it has only 51,000 miles.
