Entertainment! 35th anniversary this year...
Today CITC begins the third day of its week-long celebration of the 35th anniversary of Gang of Four’s seminal Entertainment! LP, which came out in 1979. Founding-member Dave Allen played bass on the record – to say the least. It’s better to say that Allen’s funky and buoyant playing drew listeners into each and every song on the record, making them accessible and compelling. Who would have thought to combine funk and punk? Allen and Gang of Four...

Michael, I now have a mental image of Wallace Stevens funking out in the office of his insurance company, bouncing around in his gray three-piece suit.

For some time I've been horrified over the slack thinking around the buzzword 'Big Data,' and by that I mean there has always been access to large amounts of data. It's no longer about how to collect it, it's about how to parse the information you've gathered, based on your strategic goals and what data points you were searching for.

Anyway that's what fueled my latest post.

From the consumer side, I can confirm that Spotify means that I spend more money on music now than before.  I also listen to more... both things that must help the artist even if only indirectly.

A small twinge of vindication for writing back in 2008 how Facebook Likes were not engaging. New Internet study is suspicious of crowdsourcing, Likes and the herd. So, Please Like My Article Because Your Friends Will Too.
