Tonight Jan 12th from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM Darrel will be speaking on Job Search Techniques

To register, go to: https://seupec.secure.force.com/pmtx/Register?cID=a10F00000035XGOIA2

If you're currently in the job market, or contemplating a move, you will want to come hear current strategies with current trends. Stop wasting your time and get that job fast!

Our speaker, Darrel Raynor, Director of Project Management, Business Analysis and Leadership Program at St. Edward's University Professional Education was tasked, years ago, with laying off over 60 people as an interim manager. Since then, Darrel has been casually and formally counseling job seekers in all disciplines for over 20 years.

Besides providing instructors with experience in business analysis, project, program, and operations in many industries, his firm also places select contract and permanent project managers and business analysts at their clients.

In the last 10 years he has seen thousands of people wasting their time on well-meaning but non-effective job search techniques. Join us at St. Edward's University Professional Education to hear what Darrel has to share and learn from him on the following topics:

Ratios on how you should spend your time.
When and where to network for best results.
How to leverage social media without spending half your day.
Who to talk to and how to talk to them.
Networking outlets such as volunteering (your specialties, not just your time...)
How to reduce your time wasting activities and replace them with, yes, a PLAN!

Too many projects and not enough time? The best (and quickest) way to solve that, is pick the 25% of projects that are languishing. Formally put them on hold, no more discussion, no more meetings, no more emails, no more status reports, remember, their name is Distraction! As your high-priority projects finish, restart them one at a time as resource availability permits. Don't let your zeal for results slow it all down, use your position to force projects on hold now. Want some help? Use our consulting professionals to ease your burden, objectively working through the issues, while managing your stakeholders.

http://www.austin.iiba.org/ I will be speaking on a panel "Building and Sustaining the BA Profession in 2015 and Beyond." Friday January 16. 2015 From 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM CDT. Come join us and find out what the group is all about. I am currently immediate Past-President so am scaling down my involvement a bit... Good group for Business Analysts, Product Managers, Tech Writers, and vendors who cater to these areas.

Refining beat practice status reports! Data, not opinions, should be on status. Variances that require action, variances for which action has already been taken, and 2-3 KPIs that lend themselves to trending to justify the requested and taken corrective actions. THATS what both Agile and other project governance and executives need. Death to fluffy narrative!

The annual Business Analyst Development Day (BADD) is coming up on August 15th.  For a full agenda visit: http://austin.iiba.org/index.php/chapter-events/atxbadd

The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) is an independent non-profit professional association serving the growing field of business analysis. It's the governing body that manages the Certified Business Analyst Professional certification examination and body of knowledge.

ATX BADD is an annual educational and networking conference for business analysis professionals. This year we have organized a full-day of BA skills workshops with our keynote speaker being none other than Karl Wiegers. Karl is internationally recognized as an authority in the Software Requirements realm and has authored many books and articles on the subject. In fact he wrote the original book on Software Requirements which was recently revised into it's 3rd edition in collaboration with Joy Beatty, who will also be presenting at ATX BADD.

Formal project management techniques have their place AND everything in moderation! PMOs sometimes tip the scale in favor of documents. It takes experience to know when to do what and in what modulation...
