It looks very picturesque and well-preserved.

Sycamore Grove Park (in Highland Park, LA). The band shell (if it was fixed up) would be a cool sport for movies, free performances, and neighborhood events.

An important reminder of the historical importance of an individual's "right" to bear arms. Ugly history aside, it is clearly both necessary and appropriate for the government's to put responsible limits and regulations on gun ownership. #guncontrol

Seems like Tagg doesn't fall far from the Romeny tree:

"Tagg’s biography is littered with similar stories—short cuts he couldn’t have taken without his last name, obstacles that melted away before he was even aware of them. And yet, thanks to the Romney myth, he and his family believe that most of what he has achieved comes from old-fashioned industriousness, not older-fashioned status and wealth."

The fallout of the sequester has really helped to highlight who Congress really cares about. Steve Benen sums it up:

"When the sequester started kicking children out of pre-K, Congress did nothing. When this stupid policy denied low-income seniors the benefits of Meals on Wheels, Congress barely noticed. When sequestration cuts put new burdens on cancer patients and cut housing aid to struggling families, most of Congress shrugged its shoulders.

But when business travelers ran into flight delays on Monday, a unanimous Senate approved a fix without breaking a sweat on Thursday."

American Democracy in action. Gerrymandering only helps to minimize and marginalize the voice of the individual and maximize the voice of the parties who claim to represent them.

Casa De Ramos is a diamond in the rough. Really enjoyed the Paco's Burrito (with added beans, of course) and the refried beans and rice on the side were a great compliment. The burritos are good sized and will easily fill you up. Fair prices, friendly atmosphere, and attentive service.

The breakfast burrito is fantastic. Burrito is a good size and is tightly wrapped (so it doesn't tend to fall apart, even at the end). Burrito has a nice balance between meat (am partial to the sausage) and potatoes. Salsa was ok, and didn't overwhelm the burrito. Well worth the wait on the weekends.

Large and well stocked, but can never find anybody to help (and when I do they never seem to know where anything is). On the plus side, its never hard to find parking.

Clean and has plenty of machines. Parking is a tight, but overall this is a good laundromat. Oh and the owner(?) is really friendly.

Home of the famous Slippery Shrimp. Enough said. They're good, but you can easily eat too many and end up in a shrimp/sugar coma for the rest of the day. Service is fast, and the menu is vast. The place is not much to look at from the outside, and parking is tough (it's Chinatown Jake..), but once you get past those minor issues there is nothing to hate on about Yang Chow.

Serious portions (be prepared to take some leftovers home). Omeletts and Skillets were no joke. Pancakes were good too. The wait on the weekend was killer, but worth it. Food comes out fast. You get your money's worth and there was a lot to choose from so even the pickiest breakfast person should be happy here.

Food was ok but expensive for what you get. Was sad looking at my tiny burrito. Left hungry and in search of some more filling food.
