Friends! My new book, LIVING THE REMOTE DREAM, is on sale now through Amazon (bit.ly/LivingTheRemoteDream)

The book is part autobiography -- detailing some of the more hilarious times in my 20s -- and part how-to guide for those looking to pivot into a remote career. You can read more about what's inside at my new website here: www.darrenmurph.com

If you dig it, please leave a quick review at Amazon -- it helps a lot!

If you're a media member and would like to review it for your publication or have me on a podcast, leave a comment here or email me / DM me.

Just an FYI: if you buy the paperback, you get access to the Kindle e-book for free, which can be read on any e-reader or smartphone.

It's been a fun journey writing this, and I hope you enjoy it!

Tomorrow will be new. I'm departing +Engadget, but excited about what the future holds. Much love!
It's been a pleasure. An absolute pleasure. Over seven years ago, I gave up nights, weekends, and nearly every waking hour I could find in order to write

Today marks my 7-year anniversary of writing for Engadget. It's kind of wild to think it has been that long. Thanks to all who've read, and my colleagues along the way. Here's to infinity more.

My latest Engadget feature just went up! It's about a big, big solar city dream unfolding in Florida. Hope you enjoy it. http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/02/americas-most-sustainable-city-a-green-dream-deferred/
It sounds like the future. Whirring electric skateboards, the joyous chatter of children in a distant playground and an unusual absence of petrol-powered

What did I see at today's #Apple event? More than just spec bumps. My thoughts on the keynote's undertones.
Today was a special day. In all of my years covering consumer technology, and all of my years attending Apple’s keynotes, this is the first one that I’ve been able to devote my full and undivided...

Amen.

This past Saturday, on a summit in the middle of Maine somewhere, one of my colleagues was having some difficulty getting down a steep stretch of the mountain on the way back to the trailhead. Without any hesitation, +Tim Stevens offered his hand and support and helped him get down the hill.

Tim is a man that acts this way both literally and figuratively no matter what he does in life, and that includes his time at Engadget. At a particularly difficult period of my life, he -- alongside Darren Murph, Managing Editor of the site -- extended a hand to give me the opportunity of a lifetime. In addition to truly being a great and honorable man who has my full and absolute respect and adoration, Tim helped me become better in several aspects of my life (personal and career). He has been the best boss I've ever had.

I'm saddened by the news, but also am confident and enthusiastic that Tim has bigger and better things ahead. Engadget is also bigger and better thanks to him, and we'll continue to build on the momentum he built during his stead.

Best wishes to a great man and what the future has in store for you!
I still remember the comments on my welcome letter when I took over the site on a sunny day in early 2011. It was beautiful outside and here I was

Thanks for the awesome pictures of me using +Project Glass at #2014LEXUSIS  event +Darren Murph!

As you can see, I'm using only Glass to take products shots as well as conduct my interview and record my driving experience a while both hands are free.

Without question, the most enjoyable and transparent dealership I've ever worked with. Chad and his staff are second to none. I've never felt more appreciated. If you're looking for a dealership that won't pressure you into extras, will be open & honest about pricing, and will let you test drive as many vehicles as you need to find the one for you, this is the place. It's clear that they aren't in the business of selling cars; they're in the business of building a base of customers that want to return. Can't praise these guys highly enough.

This place has improved since all of the negative reviews from prior years. We stayed on Floor 3 one night and Floor 8 on a different stay, and both rooms were remodeled and very sufficient. It looks as if this place is a remodeled Embassy Suites, so if you're familiar with that room layout, you'll be familiar with this place. The staff was kind, the gym was absolutely huge (and well-equipped), and the Wi-Fi was fast. I see a ton of bad marks on this place, but it was totally satisfactory. Both of my stays were award stays before flying out of FLL and it served the purpose just fine.

I’ve dealt with Brad Manning and the service department at Land Rover Cary for over two years now, and I’ve yet to find a better dealership to do business with. I’m always treated like a valued customer, service appointments are easy to book, and my vehicle always comes back clean and on time. Brad in particular has gone out of his way to shuttle me around while my vehicle was being serviced, and managed a remote pickup when I was arriving back outside of service hours. They value my time like it’s their time, which is tough to find these days.

If you're in Key West, hop on the Yankee Freedom to this amazing National Park. It's a gem. I've been to many National Parks, and this was one of my favorites. I wish we had time to spend a few nights there camping, but even the day trip for snorkeling and touring the old fort is incredible. A really, really unique experience. The crew is friendly & helpful, the boat is smooth, and both included meals are well laid-out. Pricey, but worth it. It's crazy that you can even visit a place this remote. (Plus, if you pay online and have a National Park pass, you'll get $5 per person refunded to you when you show up for your departure.)
