According to the Australian Tax Office, 75 people earning more than $1 million per year paid no tax in 2011-12, thanks to aggressive tax avoidance.

The wealthiest 1% of income earners shouldn't pay a lower tax rate than everyday Australians. The Buffett Rule — a simple principle of tax fairness that asks everyone to pay their fair share - would put a stop to this.

The "Buffett Rule" first arose in the United States, inpired by billionaire investor Warren Buffett, who said that his secretary should not pay a higher rate of tax than he does.

Australia could claw back $2.5 billion in avoided tax per year by introducing the Buffett Rule - a cap on tax deductions for people earning over $300,000. This rule would remove the incentive to chase tax loopholes aggressively by requiring the wealthiest 1% to pay at least the same tax rate as everyday Australians.

1Tbs over wireless. Amazing. Now we just need mobile storage capacity to catch up.
Scientists researching 5G at the University of Surrey achieve data connection many thousands of times faster than the average 4G.

I think quotas will have to increase for the price. If you can use up your months quota in a blink. Telcos will be forced to increase quotas in order for their plans to be appealing. One telco will provide more quota to be popular and the rest will be forced to follow

Tony Abbott rejects report on children in detention as 'blatantly partisan'

Much easier to go on the defensive and attack the messenger. Much harder to defend the facts.

The Catholic Church condoning child abuse. What a surprise.
Pope Francis says that he backs parents who smack their children, providing the child's "dignity" is maintained.

“Unfortunately we were unable to wipe the smile off her face,” said a hospital spokesperson. “We tried everything we could but it won’t budge. This is unusual for a simple case of excessive schadenfreude."
Former Prime Minister Julia Gillard is under observation at Royal Prince Philip hospital after overdosing on schadenfreude, the pleasure derived from witnessing someone else’s misfortune.   Gillard was found in her residence clutching an oversized bag of popcorn and watching the ABC’s 7:30 Report. An ambulance was called to the Gillard residence and she was taken to hospital where she remains in a stable non-life threatening condition. Hospital s...

Really good movie. This group, led by Turing, helped save an estimated 14 million lives.

Mind officially blown!
A bioengineer and geneticist at Harvard's Wyss Institute have successfully stored 5.5 petabits of data -- around 700 terabytes -- in a single gram of DNA, smashing the previous DNA data density record by a thousand times.

It's hard to imagine how this is even possible.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Trade Minister Andrew Robb are desperate to keep a lid on the TPP, because they know it won't be popular with most Australians. This is why we need to blow the lid right off!

The more people who know about the TPP, the better chance we have of putting pressure on our politicians and ensuring that we aren't locked into a disastrous treaty that undermines public health, environmental protections and privacy. Unfortunately research shows 9 out of 10 Australians have never heard of the TPP.

It sounds like a conspiracy theory – and if only it was! Read more about the biggest secret negotiation on Australians' rights that you've never heard of.

Good food. One problem is that it is closed completely between 15/15/13 and 09/01/14. Seriously, what takeaway shuts up shop for so long over the busiest time of the year?

Quoted $800 - $1000 for 1 days work. It took 3.5 days with no communication to tell me what was happening with my wife's vehicle. When they did eventually finish they tried to charge me almost $1,300. When I said I was only going to pay what was quoted the old guy, bless him, started to get noisy and physical. This is a VERY short version of all the events leading up to this final incident. My advice. Do not take your vehicle to this place. There are other establishments who will not try to rip you off (probably) and who do know what good customer service actually is.

Stood in line for 20 minutes behind only 6 customers. Got to counter only to be told it was a 20 minute wait for chicken. Wtf use is KFC if they cannot do fast food chicken. Useless. Avoid like the plague.

Rang around for quotes to service a Great Wall X240. Seaview Ford had the best price and as it turns out, great service as well. They dropped me back home and picked me up again when the vehicle was ready. They even washed it first. Highly recommended. Very good customer service.
