Free event in Dublin this Saturday for people worried about their hearing or suffering from Tinnitus. Great gig in the evening too.

#tinnitus #hearingloss #dublin #ireland

Do you have a ringing in your ears? Are you worried about your hearing? Do you suffer from hearing problems or would you just like to get some expert advice for free?

This one day event brings together some of Ireland’s top hearing experts to help you with questions, queries, hearing tests and advice. There are hearing tests, talks and lessons, all for free.

In the evening we’ve arranged some music and comedy chosen especially for people with hearing problems. A quiet atmosphere with low background noise and acoustic music from Alison Kiernan, from Nella and from Jill Deering & Jay Wilson with a special Comedy show from Neil Curran called "You, Me + The Voice Inbetween". Food will be supplied by Roasted Brown.

Organised by Restored Hearing, an Irish company working with tinnitus sufferers for over 6 years, this event also features Specsavers Hearing, The Irish Menieres Disease Support Group, Connect Hearing, Ecces Hearing and Donal MacNally Hearing.

People from Munster are 23% more likely to say they are kind. 62% of people surveyed think Irish society places a greater importance on wealth and personal success over consideration for others but 82% of Irish parents agree that kindness is part of their child's daily experience in school. Survey results released today for #poweringkindness  campaign. #ireland   #irish   #survey

Eh..surely that's a typo regarding Munster; "in comparison to their less modest peers.." should read " more modest"?

Lovely video here of Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Enda Kenny reading 'The Night Before Christmas' in English and as Gaeilge.

"T'was the night before Christmas, when all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse,
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar plums danced in their heads,
And Mam in her handkerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

Le clagarnach chlamprach amuigh ar an bhféar,
Do léimeas ón leaba faoin torann go léir,
Amach chuig an bhfuinneog mar lasrach teasaí,
Ag oscailt cuirtíní le bualadh mo chroí.

Solas na gealaí ar shneachta na hoíche,
Mar loinnir gheal ghléine ar an dúiche seo choíche,
Ba mhealltach an radharc é romham amach,
Carr sleamhnáin bídeach, is ocht réinfhia stalcach’.

Le tiománaí seanchaite, chomh biorbach briosc,
Cérbh é an fear úd sin ach San Nioclás!
Níos tapúla ná iolair ag teacht chugam an treo,
Ag feadaíl, is ag béiceach, is á dtreorú trí cheo:

‘Nois, Dasher! ‘nois, Dancer! ‘nois, Prancer ‘gus Vixen!
Tar, Comet! Tar Cupid! Tar, Donner ‘gus Blitzen!
Chuig barr an phóirse! Chuig barr an chlaí!
Anois imigí! Imigí! Fán na gealaí!

Mar dhuilleoga ag eitilt le fuinneamh na gaoithe,
Suas chun na bhflaitheas ina maireann na ríthe,
Go barra an tí d’eitilíodar go pras,

Le hualach bréagán agus San Nioclás.

I bpreabadh na súl, ar an díon os mo chionn,
Bhí fothram pramsach is léimneach na gcrúb.
Ag casadh mórthimpeall, le gcliondar im’ chroí,
Chonaic San Nioclás ar an talamh ina shuí.

Bhí sé gléasta i bhfionnadh, óna cheann chuig a chosa,
Is ó luaithreach an ghuail a chuid éadaigh salach,
Beart mór bréagán bhí aige caite thar a dhroim,
Mar spailpín beag fánach gioblach lom.

A shúile- chomh ceolmhar! A mheanga chomh binn!
A leicne mar rósaí, a shrón mar shilín!
A bhéilín beag bídeach mar bhoghuirlis bheag,
Chomh bán leis an sneachta an fhéasóg ar a smig.

An stumpa de phíopa idir fiacla go dlúth,
Le deatach thar a cheann mar choróin a chlú,
Ba leathan a aghaidh ‘gus ba chomhchruinn a bholg,
Mar ghlóthach ag crith le gáire na Nollag.

Bhí sé plucach is ramhar, an sean-síofra meidhreach,
Soilbhir, suaimhneach ach cuma saghas taibhseach,
Le caochadh na súl agus casadh a chinn,
Thug an fear deas macánta sonas don domhan.

Chuaigh chun na hoibre le ciúnas a bhéil,
Ag líonadh na stocaí le hábhar an tsaoil,
Ar thaobh a shróine do leag sé a mhéar,
Suas leis an simléar, suas chun na spéir.

Shuigh sé sa chairt, is ghlaoigh ar a shlua,
Is d’imíodar leo gan deacracht ná dua.
Ach do chuala é á rá, is é ag imeacht na slí,
“Nollaig Shona do chách, anois téigí in bhur luí”
