Jupiter's Great Red Spot! At about 89,000 miles in diameter, Jupiter could swallow 1,000 Earths. It is the largest planet in the solar system and perhaps the most majestic. Vibrant bands of clouds carried by winds that can exceed 400 mph continuously circle the planet's atmosphere. Such winds sustain spinning anticyclones like the Great Red Spot -- a raging storm three and a half times the size of Earth located in Jupiter’s southern hemisphere. In January and February 1979, NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft zoomed toward Jupiter, capturing hundreds of images during its approach, including this close-up of swirling clouds around Jupiter's Great Red Spot. This image was assembled from three black and white negatives. The observations revealed many unique features of the planet that are still being explored to this day.

This patchwork of light is Milan, Italy, seen from space at night. An astronaut on the International Space Station took this picture from 400 km above Earth traveling at speeds of 28 800 km/h.

"I took inspiration from actual mission emblems. They tend to be somewhat rhetoric and that’s why one fits the cover very well. The road to heaven (or was it hell?) is paved with good intentions and not a small amount of hypocrisy. The White Dwarf One mission begins just like that – with pompous words and high hopes…"

Very nice and interesting, although a bit small, especially for a £13.50 ticket.

The ground floor is the most interesting. Other floors are a somewhat empty. Wellcome-sponsored halls are very modern with interactive exhibitions. The "In the future" exhibition is useless though. Nice place to visit especially if you consider it's free. The shop is almost as interesting as the museum itself.
