My favorite piece of music ever.  I think this is a version performed by the Scottish National Orchestra.  I'd give anything to see this Ballet with the music performed live. I'd probably have to live in Russia to even have a chance of that happening though.  Still, this song changed my life, and is so haunting. It's perfect in every way.

"If you don't know anything about me from my other books, my blog, or the TED videos that have gone viral online, let me catch you up." wow this book actually starts this way. Hard to get in to a book when I immediately hate the author, but I'll forge on.

+Tai Tsu it's called Daring Greatly. By Brene Brown. It's gotten great reviews, but I'm having a hard time here. She spent a few pages talking about her education, oh she gave her degrees acronyms so she could reference them easier I guess (which she did a lot), about how she went through a clove smoking poet phase which got an eye roll from yours truly. She also refers to the reader a couple times as a layperson (a word I just really dislike) and insists on using words like "pedantic." I'm just a layperson. Those big words frighten and confuse me. Oh and she's mentioned probably 4 times in the intro and chapter one alone that she's a Texan! and that this is supposed to excuse all of her personality shortcomings. Another pet peeve of mine, when people blame their flaws on geography. "Sorry bro, I'm from New Jersey."

This is a poem I wrote yesterday to read to the chorus before our performance last night. My hope was to inspire the performance even more. And reading it was even scarier than singing in front of a couple thousand people!

The Musician's Oath

May our basses shake the floor
and our highs float amongst the clouds.

May we bring, through the power of melody,
peace to a restless mind, and may our
harmonies be like rivers that run deep,
bringing water to dry lands.

We are the lucky few: The humble deliverers of music!
How fortunate we are to have this task.

May we sing with honesty and truth, and may
our voices soar like dragons. May we sing as
if this were the last time... as if this were the
last song the world would ever hear.

This song is the product of a collaboration between me and Josh Phillips. Really thankful to Josh for giving me the opportunity to produce some music inspired by his song "I'm All Alone." Morning music! :) Thanks for listening.

Knowledgeable, friendly owner. Affordable repair as well. I really like the process: If it'll cost under $120, he'll go ahead and fix the clock. If it costs over $120, he'll call you to confirm you want it repaired. My old wall clock (that I inherited) was not working when I got it, but he got it running, chiming like new and it's keeping perfect time to boot. I would highly recommend this business for your clock repair needs. He also has a wide range of wall clocks and grandfather clocks in the store as well. I was surprised at how affordable everything was.

Theeeeeeeeee Appalachian Vintner. Where to begin? Perhaps with the completely awesome, knowledgable staff, who not only are eager to sit down and talk at length about beer and wine, but are also just great people in general, and make visiting the Vintner a great experience. Perhaps with the wine selection! They have a great selection of Wines from all over the world, and if you don't know what you're looking for, you can give Geoff or Charles a rough idea of what you like and they'll have ideas. Perhaps with the BEER selection. Tons of microbrews, a couple great locals on tap, and a cooler with a wide selection of local growlers (they give discounts when you bring back old growlers, too. #powertip). Or maybe we should start with the atmosphere in there. It's cozy and welcoming. You can hang out at the bar or sit at a table and relax with a beer or some wine. They have free wine tastings on Saturdays and Wednesday evenings. Yep, you read that right. They're free! Just for being you. So go on in and sample some f**king wines. I guess I don't know WHERE to begin.. but I DO know where YOU should begin. You should begin by hopping in your car and driving dangerously and erratically to the Appalachian Vintner. I can't believe you haven't been there yet.
