Standardbred horse demonstrates the trot and pace in harness. According to the New York Times, researchers at Sweden's Uppsala University recently discovered that a single gene, the DMRT3 mutation, determines whether or not a horse can pace. More Standardbreds pace than trot, usually at faster speeds.

The trot is a diagonal gait, in which the legs on opposite sides move in unison. At the pace, the horse's legs on the same side of the body move together. A "free-legged" pacer doesn't wear hobbles.

I am not a polished rider, but I am a passionate one. "It doesn't matter how good you are. It matters if you have the passion." ~ Danni R. Trailhorserider
Introduction
I enjoy going trail riding alone, with others, and leading new riders out on trails safely and efficiently. I like obtaining knowledge to work with horses safely and correctly and recently was introduced to the sport of harness horse driving to which I took like a fish to water. I am now working on a future career in the horse industry.
Bragging rights
I love horses and it never gets "old" or boring talking about them to other horse owners and trainers.
