Crabtree & Evelyn in South Africa stock a good range of Edwin Jagger wet shaving products

Well this just blew me away as I have been searching long and hard for these products in South Africa and ended up importing many of them from the UK over the last year. Nothing was listed for South Africa apart from one razor on a Bid or Buy site. Crabtree & Evelyn of course keep this as secretive as possible as none of these products is even listed on their online website at http://crabtree-evelyn.co.za/. Yes they do actually stock an excellent range of there own shaving products which I could also recommend, but seeing Edwin Jagger is one of the world's most renown shaving suppliers you'd think they would brag a bit about it. My jaw is still on the ground so I forgot to ask what double edged razor blades (if any) that they stock.

What is nice though is they have a few branches around South Africa and this gives the opportunity for potential wet shavers to look and feel a couple of world class wet shaving products. The safety razor that they has is the DE 89 with the knurled handle, which is exactly what I would have chosen for myself. The price may sound steep at about R1,500 but it is available now (no delays through customs and taxes etc) and it will last longer than a generation. By comparison a similar no-name brand safety razor at Mr Cobbs' Barbershop costs R1,995.

Crabtree & Evelyn's own shaving range is certainly worth looking at and I do love those genuine wood bowls that their shaving soaps come in.

For the record then Takealot.com does stock the Merkur 34C safety razor for just over R1,000 which is a worthy alternative to the Edwin Jagger (but nothing touches the chrome finish on the Edwin Jagger).
