The sweetest and smallest dude in my family turns nine today... the wishes I have for him are many...
Sweet Buddy~ It's your birthday. Again. It would be a cliche for me to start this letter by telling you I don't know where the last nine years of my life have gone, so I won't. I remember well the ...

I adore family tradition...this recipe (still in my grandmother's handwriting) has been with us for more than 75 years... (only fitting that we celebrate this AND the only glassware she ever used - turing 100 this year #Pyrex100) #ad
I lost my grandmother when I was only nine years old. As my mother's mother, my 'Nana' and I didn't have much opportunity to grow close. Though I was the first grandchild of what would grow to be d...

Sometimes, parenting isn't the easiest job in the world. And sometimes...it is nice to know other moms 'get' what you are going through...whether your small people are infants, toddlers, or 8 and 10 going on 20 like mine feel now...
Dear Moms.... I see you there on the sidelines diving for that invisible ball, willing your son to be just an inch taller as the opposition's rocket sails *just* over his head. You watch his should...

The game of baseball  is about more than winning and losing...it is about celebrating each moment of success, about congratulating your teammates, about PLAYING the GAME. Right? #GetKreative  and show them.... #ad
A million thanks to Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® for partnering with me on this post and encouraging me to talk baseball - as you know, one of my very favorite topics. When my husband was three...

My small people attend a school that uses Common Core Standards. There have been days I didn't understand their homework, the processes, or had too many questions to count. I have been introduced to a website that aims to help PARENTS and KIDS with Common Core - it isn't aimed at Educators, but rather to act as both a resource and a set of tools/tips for families. Check it out: #BeALearningHero
#CommonCore  #School #Students #Learning
She handed me her math homework and she smiled sweetly, 'here you go...your favorite'. She's kidding, of course. Sort of. I actually never had trouble with math while I was in school, but the sarca...

Sometimes you hold your breath, ignore the fear and hit publish. This is one of those times for me:
I've sat down to write this more than a dozen times and each one has ended with a tightness in my chest, an inability to breathe, and often tears. It's fear, I know. I've developed a fear of writin...

For the first time ever, my small people will be 'independent' this Summer.... I won't be monitoring their every move, scheduling their every moment from the time they wake up until the time they go to bed... they feel free - and so do I. There are rules, but they are playing outside, planning their 'free time' inside and making their meals and it is a beautiful thing. My #curiouskids  are growing up. It is a new frontier and it is crazy beautiful. #ad
I'm not quite sure how it happened, but we are within the initial moments of my children's 8th and 10th summers. I suppose I should be telling you it makes me feel old....old as in 'mom years', but...

What do you wish for your family in 2030? #globalmoms
My Sweet Small People, I can't say I have ever considered myself a worrier. I have always done my best to keep my eyes focused on the path in front of me, my feet firmly planted in a forward direct...

Do you EVER take time just for you? (and just what do you do with that magical time?)
My small girl looked at me across the kitchen island, clearly fed up with being forced to do homework, "I can't wait until I go to college... Until I can make my own decisions and I'm in charge of ...

How much thought do you put in to gift giving for Mother's Day? Here is a little encouragement to be 'extra thoughtful' (I LOVE finding the perfect gift! and I worked with +CafePress  to find some fun options) #Thoughtfulgiving
I was born on January 21st, 1973 at 5:17pm in the afternoon. I'd venture to say it was fairly unremarkable as far as births go. I was six pounds and fifteen ounces. Twenty-one inches long. Probably...

It is as simple as sharing a message, as spreading the word, as understanding the dangers of #malnutrition  in children. AD The more you know...
Thank you to Amway and Nutrilites™ Power of 5 Campaign for inspiring this conversation. My small dude is closing in on his ninth birthday. While he still has a couple of months to go, (two if I'm b...

That moment when you attempt to help your child over their biggest F-E-A-R
F-E-A-R of E-M-B-A-R-R-A-S-S-M-E-N-T. It can paralyze even the most confident of us. We see an opportunity to do something great, something we know we can do, but that trepidation of being made fun...
