Just a friendly reminder: I write books! Well, I've written one book. It's a fantasy novel. If you want to purchase it in .mobi or .epub, you can do so directly from the publisher's store, as well as from Amazon and B&N. It's also available in paperback from Amazon. (Links below.)

Why should you buy it? Well, here's what some people said about it.

"Orison is one of the best leaps of faith I've taken on a fantasy book. It has dragon gods and goddesses, a thieves' guild, sorcerers, and a mysterious orb all colliding with each other in spectacular fashion." - Amazon reviewer

"Neither overlong (250 pages) nor grimdark, this novel moves at a breakneck pace, featuring taut descriptions of battle and kinetic chase scenes. Recommended!" - Rafael Chandler

"I commend the author for keeping this book accessible to a wide audience. As a parent, I appreciate when I can read a book which was written for adults then hand it to my middle-school daughter. Orison is such a book. Not pedantic or "dumbed down" at all, it still avoids the language or sex that would make it inaccessible to a young or religious audience. This is a novel you can give to any fantasy lovers who have worked their way up to that reading level." - Marissa Ames

"There are shades of The Black Company and Steven Erikson's Malazan books running through this, in terms of feel, though I found the story to be wholly original." - R.S. Kimsey

" I could hardly put it down until I finished (if I had a choice, I never would have put it down)." - Brooke Johnson

I don't have anything profound to say about GLOW other than it was really satisfying to watch. So many great characters. Like the wrestling it (further) fictionalizes, it knows how to crowd-please. Looking forward to more. Everyone who said Marc Maron's character is gross: you were right.

My friend, Roanoke, is asking for help combating their dysphoria. They have an entire plan set-up to save away $500 a month, leading up to their surgery. They have everything lined up, and the money they're asking for goes directly into that, but my friend just doesn't want to wait forever to start feeling comfortable in their own skin. Hence the fundraiser. I'll share their latest words here:

"If you're a cis-gendered person looking to do something real and active to help transfolk right now, I encourage you to share this link. Dysphoria is a leading cause of suicide among trangender people and not having the money for an expensive surgery that would help diminish some of that dysphoria is extremely frustrating to say the least."

"Right now I'm about 1/7 of the way to my monetary goal- the real goal was to have this surgery before the end of this year, but right now that definitely doesn't look like it'll happen. If you could share this on any of the social media sites you use, I would be so grateful. You could help make this surgery a possibility for me! <3"

They will appreciate every little bit of help you can offer, whether it's a donation or passing this along to others who might be able to help.

Thank you.

So much great television and so many great movies, and I've spent three days watching Burnt Offerings a half hour at a time just because I want to watch Oliver Reed overact and underact simultaneously. This movie claims to be a supernatural thriller, but I'm not sure there's anything supernatural about it. I think the creaky old house is just a huge allegory for a failing marriage and frantic, toxic masculinity and it just seems like a haunting because everybody's repressing it as hard as they can. It's the 70s, and if a man feels an emotion he's just going to hold his breath until he's puffy and red as a beet.

What's that? Pops went berserk and tried to drown little Billy in the pool? Eh, it's okay, give us a hug, Billy. How long do we have to wait before we find out the old lady in the upstairs bedroom doesn't exist, and Mom has been making her up the entire time? She's eating the tuna sandwiches herself! It reminds me of Ken Russel's Gothic, where everyone whips themselves into a frenzy and runs around yelling "it must'a been spirits," but no, there aren't any. There are just way too many Quaaludes in the house.

As a side note, this is supposedly the novel that inspired Stephen King's The Shining, and watching the film, I can really believe it. A whole lot of Oliver Reed staring blankly into space and mumbling. A whole lot of prioritizing the caretaking of real estate over human life. It's all here.

Big points for this spooky chauffeur guy, though. Here's a guy you don't want as your Uber driver. One star, ran me over with a rolling casket and made my spine crack like a pretzel.
