After working so much on my photographs of ice and snow, I found this polar scientist's explanation of our new snow field very interesting.

It's so cold out - why I am working on photographs of ice??

My friends at the art consulting firm @SkylineArt recently requested one of my pieces to hang in their gallery. (That's "Furnace III, abstract of a sunflower" hanging on the wall there.)

Heading off to sell some of my old photo equipment. It's funny how nostalgic you can get for old lenses! Especially ones I bought thinking I'd use, but never did. All that pent-up potential is still there.

This is another shell from our summer vacation -- not a "pretty" shell, by any means, but with a strong personality. The texture on the lower half that makes me think of feathers on an outstretched wing, preparing to take flight.

When looking for art, people often have very specific needs. They want horizontal images to fit a certain space, with green in them to fit the decor of the room. Or, they are looking for intriguing, engaging artwork for the main entrance to their home. So I have added new filtering feature to my website to make it easier to find art based on subject, mood, color, etc.

I'd like to introduce my new collection: abstract photographs of melting ice and snow! You can read about how I create them on my blog http://danielsroka.com/blog/?p=2374 or visit the whole collection at http://danielsroka.com/tag/ice

Leaves are my favorite subject to photograph. They seem simple at first, but when you take the time, you see they are full of unexpected complexity and subtle character.

Well, now! Plywerk, the cool folks who make bamboo art panels, has selected me to be their Featured Artist this month. Very cool. And if you leave a comment, you could win one of my pieces, mounted on their boards. Extra cool!

I love when someone sees my art and instantly understands it! A new collector shared how she chose my art for a nature-oriented retreat in her home. Read more: http://www.danielsroka.com/blog/?p=2168

Nature from a Different Angle
Introduction

The fine art photography of Daniel Sroka reveals a luminous and compelling side of nature that usually goes unseen. His abstract, dream-like images of leaves, shells, flowers, and seeds connect your interior spaces to the textures and palettes of the natural world. Combining an organic energy with a clean aesthetic, Daniel’s art is perfect for high-end resorts and spas, as well as eco-conscious businesses and homes. As one client said, "this is what art should do for architecture: make it feel more humane, more real, more meaningful."
