16 GByte of RAM and 536 VMs? Thanks to an very old UNIX feature, called Kernel Samepage Merging.
Given identical binaries for each VM, a background process continuously seeks for identical 4096 byte memory fragments and, if found, maps them over each other.
So, 536 identical Apache webserver binaries only consume memory of just one binary in RAM.
Overhead: Not noticeable! Leaving #Hyper-V, #VMware ESXi, #KVM, ... in the dust.
