It is like having over 50 vegan mentors.
When I became a vegetarian a while back - it didn't take long before I realized that even though I wasn't eating meat - that eating eggs, dairy etc was not much different than eating meat.
While I thought I was doing a good thing by being a vegetarian, I realized I could do better.
I have watched Forks over knives, read so many articles on veganism, have loads of Vegetarian/Vegan cookbooks.
But the proof is in the pudding as it were.
Good intentions must be accompanied by good actions.
I was going to have breakfast with my boss after my night shift last week at a local vegetarian restaurant - but he had to go out of town unexpectedly.
Also I discovered my chosen restaurant didn't open for breakfast during the week - only fri, sat, sun.
So - thanks to my Happy Cow app I was able to locate a vegan bakery nearby.
I found as I was talking about wanting to become 100% plant based with my server - that I was beginning to feel very emotional.
I am a very rational guy, with almost Spock-like objectivity, calm and cool in an emergency, etc.
So I find it very interesting indeed that the act of taking concrete steps toward veganism created such strong emotion.
It is one thing to embrace the concept, yet another to put belief into action.
Had some good vegan savory pastries, donuts, and apple turnovers - and freshly squeezed OJ - watched her juice the oranges (by hand) right there.
Also got info from her about a vegan restaurant I didn't know about.
Tried that out next time I worked.
Anyone else experience similar emotions on your way to becoming vegan?
