Using a small quantum system consisting of three superconducting qubits, researchers at UC Santa Barbara and Google have uncovered a link between aspects of classical and quantum physics thought to be unrelated.
Using a small quantum system consisting of three superconducting qubits, researchers at UC Santa Barbara and Google have uncovered a link between aspects of classical and quantum physics thought to be unrelated: classical chaos and quantum entanglement. Their findings suggest that it would be possible to use controllable quantum systems to investigate certain fundamental aspects of nature.

"While the federal government recommends that people fill half their plates with fruits and vegetables to help prevent obesity, only a small fraction of its subsidies actually support the production of fresh produce. The vast majority of agricultural subsidies go instead to commodity crops that are processed into many of the foods that are linked to the obesity crisis."
At a time when almost three-quarters of the country is overweight or obese, it comes as no surprise that junk foods are the largest source of calories in the American diet. Topping the list are grain-based desserts like cookies, doughnuts and granola bars. (Yes, granola bars are dessert.).

Anyone else think that #AmazonPrimeDay should be TODAY?! Last year it was on 7/15, and this year it's on 7/12 neither are prime numbers. Ok, so 7 is a prime number, but what about the day!? It's called Prime DAY! Come on, it's like they aren't even trying!! 😜

Employment
  • CoStar Group
Senior Software Engineer, 2012 - present
Right now I'm working on architecting a complete rewrite of the LoopNet website using ASP.NET MVC, Unity, OWIN, Entity Framework, Angular, SignalR, WebSockets and SASS, with a strong focus on testability, built on a foundation of SaaS / Microservices using a modular component-based architecture. Recently, I researched available adaptive bitrate streaming protocols including HTTP Dynamic Streaming (HDS) and Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS). Then I architected and implemented the video virtual tour service used by Apartments.com, LoopNet.com, CoStar.com, Showcase.com and hundreds of other websites. This responsive video-on-demand SaaS product features innovative time-based interactive media, floorplan walkthroughs, and optimized playback for desktop, tablet and mobile devices. The service also provides customizable layout and embedding options, theming/branding support, dynamic chapter navigation and rich interaction analytics. All this with an initial download of just 4KB that renders in less than 5 milliseconds.
  • Manning Publications
    Technical Proofer, 2015 - 2015
I have collaborated with Manning Publications on several book titles including, technical reviews of "Secrets of the JavaScript Ninja, Second Edition" by John Resig, Josip Maras Ph.D., and Bear Bibeault. As well as "Functional Programming in JavaScript" by Luis Atencio. I appreciate an excellent technology book; accordingly I carefully ensure the titles I review comprehensively cover the concepts, using code examples that clearly teach the material, while presenting practical solutions to real-world problems.
  • Packt Publishing
    Technical Reviewer, 2015 - 2015
After turning down authoring a video series on testing Angular.js for Packt Publishing due to previous commitments. I used my expertise in Angular to shape two courses from Packt, one called "Rapid AngularJS Testing" (Angular 1.x) and another "Mastering AngularJS" (Angular 2.x). While it is ultimately the author's decision about what to include, I did point out areas where to make improvements and gave constructive, helpful feedback on the structure and organization of the video courses. As an integral part of the editorial process, I employed my skill, experience, and knowledge to ensure technical accuracy of the text and quality of the code.
  • Pragmatic Programmers
    Technical Reviewer, 2014 - 2015
I provided insightful technical reviews of several book titles from The Pragmatic Programmers. These include "CoffeeScript Accelerated JavaScript Development, Second Edition" by Trevor Burnham. As well as "Reactive Programming in JavaScript" by Sergi Mansilla. I ensured code accuracy, made suggestions to improve clarity, and contributed detailed comments throughout the books on revising the contents.
  • LoopNet
    Senior Software Engineer, 2004 - 2012
☑ Architected a PDF report generation system using isomorphic JavaScript. ☑ Campaigned for a universally accessible mobile version of the LoopNet site and created m.loopnet.com using CSS3 and HTML5 to optimize the site for mobile devices.
  • LoopNet
    Software Engineer, 2001 - 2004
Delivering web development, maintenance and enhancement projects using JavaScript, jQuery, C#, Asp.Net, MVC, Dojo Toolkit, as well as SQL and the Entity Framework: ☑ Improved search performance by redesigning property search using AJAX, which enables our users to search quickly and filter more than a half-trillion dollars’ worth of properties for sale. ☑ Designed a front end build process and integrated it into the development lifecycle, which improved code quality and reduced the number of bugs to the quality assurance team. ☑ Improved report generation time by 95% for a project appearing at the International Conference on Software Engineering.
  • PropertyFirst
    Web Developer, 2000 - 2001
During my tenure at PropertyFirst.com I pioneered innovations in JavaScript now commonly used today, under the name AJAX. I used this asynchronous request method to log client-side validation errors to a database. This enabled management to review high friction points in the site. Armed with this knowledge, they knew precisely where to improve user experience.
