My first was a pink Game Boy Color, though a few friends let me play their earlier models. My very first game was Pokemon Gold. Oh those were the days.

This is too cool not to repost, especially since today is the 25th anniversary of the original Game Boy.

CNN is saying that it's too early in the investigation to call this a hate crime, and that the shooter's motives are unclear.

I just want to make sure I understand this. A former KKK guy goes up to Jewish facilities on Passover and shoots a bunch of people while literally screaming "Heil Hitler." He has a history of posting about exterminating Jews and the SPLC describes him as a "raging anti-Semite."

Yeah, you know what, I can see where the confusion comes in. I mean for all we know he was just angry about rising gas prices, there's just really no way to tell.
Three people were killed Sunday in shootings at two Jewish facilities near Kansas City, police said.

If this isn't a hate crime, then what qualifies as one?

Succinct. I do seem to mention this a lot, but people show me how much they don't get it even more often.

"I can't remember where I heard this, but someone once said that defending a position by citing free speech is sort of the ultimate concession; you're saying that the most compelling thing you can say for your position is that it's not literally illegal to express."

This is going to be fun! Wish I had a better camera for it.

The United States will be in a prime orbital position & time of day to view the total lunar #eclipse! It starts at ~2 a.m. EDT & peaks at around 3:45 a.m. More: http://go.nasa.gov/1kqLegk

Books and stories that have successfully broken me into pieces:
—His Dark Materials
—Where the Red Fern Grows
—Flowers for Algernon
—Bridge to Terabithia
—Harry Potter

I think HDM wins no contest, because I think my brain has actually blocked out the memories of those books. Amazing trilogy, but it took me weeks to get over it.

Well American Gods is now a completed read, and while, it had some good passages, some great lines, and descriptions, was pretty eh. I read the 10th anniversary version, which I gather from the many notes, differs from previous releases, in length and such. Eh.  I am not excited to re-visit the author, tho' I have one more of his on my kindle.  So now I am stumped with finding what I wish to read next.

Thank goodness for emulators. I'm going to reclaim the childhood I never had. In other words, I'm going to play some N64 Zelda games. My first Zelda game was Twilight Princess, can you believe that?

+Daniel Koeker Oh please do! I know a lot about a lot, I pretty much studied it for like ten years :P. I had every game at one point, and I have played every game (except for the newest one...I can't even remember the name of it). If you need anything at all, you just let me know :D.

I love tilt-shift photography, and this has to be one of my favorites. This is a photo of the launch of the space shuttle Atlantis, taken from a WB-57 High Altitude Research plane.

A little while ago I shared a picture of this nifty looking ice cream sandwich dessert thing. Tonight my best friend and I decided to give it a shot. Three layers of ice cream sandwiches with caramel in between, Cool Whip over top and more caramel on top of that. To my surprise, it wasn't obnoxiously rich. It was quite delicious. I recommend it.

Introduction
I'm just someone who writes for a living, enjoys gaming more than is probably healthy, occasionally takes photographs and has a deep affinity for chocolate. Most of my writing is YA fantasy and fiction, but I've also strayed into writing articles on everything from psychology to politics.
Bragging rights
Published author, company owner, pretty good at sarcasm.
