+Daniel Holbach invites you all to the Snappy Playpen event tomorrow.
Over the last few weeks, Tuesday has become the Snappy Playpen day. Although you can find us on IRC and Gitter all the time basically, Tuesday is where many of us have their eyeballs locked on the discussion and are happy to help out. We're making no exception tomorrow, 19th July 2016 will be ...

Great work everyone!

With over 40 real-world snap examples and growing, the Snappy playpen is the place to go when starting with your first snap.

We've recently added tags to make it easy to find code samples that match your project, and it's never been easier to snap and distribute apps, regardless of technology and build system: check out the playpen for examples on nodejs, java, python3, gtk2/3, qt4/5, autootools, cmake, qmake, grunt, qml, ant... and more!

If you always wanted to get involved in the world of snaps somehow, +Daniel Holbach wrote about how to help out.
Zygmunt Krynicki wrote about the availability of bite-sized bugs for the snapd project. I took this as an opportunity to go through the snapcraft bugs as well and tag a few as bitesize myself. snapcraft is written in python, nicely commented documented and comes with a comprehensive test-suite.

If you want to get started with snapping or help us with the Snappy Playpen, Tuesday next week is a great time!
Next week on Tuesday, 5th July, we want to have our next Snappy Playpen event. As always we are going to work together on snapping software for our repository on github. Whatever app, service or piece of software you bring is welcome. The focus of last week was ironing out issues and documenting ...

With snapcraft 2.12 you get access to the Parts Ecosystem. Check out what +Sergio Schvezov, one of Snapcraft's core developers has to say.
Today I am going to be discussing parts . This is one of the pillars of snapcraft (together with plugins and the lifecycle ). For those not familiar, this is snapcraft's general purpose landing page, http://snapcraft.io/ but if you are a developer and have already been introduced to this new ...

Beautiful work by +Kyle Fazzari: not only did he snap +Nextcloud, he also wrote a 6-part blog series about it, here's part one, go check it out: https://kyrofa.com/posts/installing-nextcloud-can-be-a-snap
I've been an ownCloud user for years, and I recently moved to using Nextcloud, which is based upon ownCloud. Both my wife and I use it to sync our calendars and contacts across all our devices, and also use it to sync our documents, music, pictures, and videos. It caters to my paranoid nature-- ...

Snapcraft 2.12: an ecosystem of parts, qmake and gulp. Snapcraft 2.12 is here and is making its way to your 16.04 machines today. This release takes Snapcraft to a whole new level. For example, instead of defining your own project parts, you can now use and share them from a common, open, ...

+David Callé wrote a very nice blog entry about all the new stuff in snapd 2.0.9, among them "snap run", full confinement for +elementary 0.4 and lots more.
Snapd 2.0.9: full snap confinement on Elementary 0.4. As of today and part of our weekly release cadence, a new snapd is making its way to your 16.04 systems. Here is what's new! Command line. snap interfaces can now give you a list of all snaps connected to a specific interface: ...
